The ongoing AAPSU election campaign has helped me retrieve the past memories of my early youth days. You ought to be intrigued, guessing how?
It was the year 2004, Winter had just dissipated, the chirping of the bird,& the bi-phasic hoots of hoolock Gibbon woke me up from my deep cozy slumber.
Abruptly an Idu Mishmi Nani (Ane) called, โ๐ผ๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐๐โ, it came from the door & I rushed to see it, โ๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ก๐ค ๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ก๐ค๐ ๐ ๐ค ๐๐ค ๐๐โ, She said calmy & left the premise.
It was a pack of CDs wherein the cover had a young man with one of his hands pointing to the sky. As a kid, I thought it was some kind of music video or the boring Doordarshan type of programme video, so I didnโt even look at it.
We just had our vacation, People were leaving for their respective villages, and I had to leave Roing the HQ of Lower Dibang Valley district for my village too.
On the previous day, I remember the guy with a machete mentioning,
โ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฃ ๐๐๐๐ชโฆโฆโ I forgot the other phrase but while I walked past the Roing -Cheta-I colony, I saw the young manโs photo almost everywhere, but some of them had a stump of big five fingers, It was only after five years that I came to know that it was the logo of Congress party, The karyakartas had smoothly splashed it on that young manโs face.
Having reached my village, I was bewildered by the scenario that was going on, hence I decided not to come out from home. It was dark & dense, my village had no light,& no road, but yet people seemed quite jolly. The god must have been an aesthete to make my village look so fresh and beautiful.
The first two days before the election everyone looked busy, but thereafter I came to know that the villagers had watched the CD, it was the same CD delivered to us by the Idu-Mishmi Nani at Roing. Now I was curious to know what did it contain.
Keeping aside my introverted nature, I made some courage to come out of my house & asked the grannies passing by:
โAne did you see that Video, whom are you voting? โ๐๐ข ๐๐๐ง๐ค๐ฃ ๐๐๐๐ช- ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ข ๐๐ค-๐ฉ๐๐๐โ !! โ she bellowed & walked past by:
Meanwhile, I saw another granny coming from a distance, her teeth were dark, her feet had no slippers, her thumbs & fingers were thick, her nails were filled with mud, and her head carried the bamboo basket, maybe she was coming from her field, I stopped & asked her the same,
โAne No wwnayem vote tubyeโ? She laughed โhehehe, & said โ๐๐๐ค ๐จ๐๐ข๐ข๐ค ! ๐ฃ๐๐ช๐ฃ๐ช๐๐ ๐ ๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ข ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐

(She said, I donโt know, but the one we saw Kiren Rijiju, I will vote for himโ)
The same continued with several others, there was only one man in the village whom everyone would vote, & the irony was that No one ever saw him in person, but only through CD.
The last granny whom I asked,โ Ane why will you vote Kiren Rijijuโ?

(He is so handsome, he speaks so flawlessly, whoaa, he is our only beloved one ! Kiren Rijiju, young boy โ so sweet of him)
Now you can imagine how his handsomeness gave him a 100% vote from my village, & to let you know this trend continued even in the 2008 General Election, 2009,2014 & 2019.
In the past few weeks, I have received messages with a similar kind of aura.

The Tale of a victory out of handsomeness from Yaki Tato village seems to be still relevant today.
But I am sure people have changed by now & shall mandate their vote only to the one who is really capable to make AAPSU a better one.
