नैनीताल हिमालय की कुमाऊँ पहाडि़यों की तलहटी में स्थित है नैनीताल की घाटी में आम / नाशपाती के आकार की एक झील है जो नैनी झील के नाम से जानी जाती है
यह झील चारों ओर से पहाड़ों से घिरी है पहाडो़ के उत्तर में इनकी सबसे ऊंची चोटी नैना पीक है तथा इसकी कुल परिधि लगभग दो मील है
