Back to the mountains after 3 years …I had enrolled for the Gaumukh-Tapovan trek which is a moderate to difficult trek ,had physically and mentally prepared myself for the high endurance required during the trek .
My first halt was at Rishikesh where I got a chance to do the Ganga Aarthi ,visit the Beatles ashram and have a bite at the famous Tattv cafe …my team of 8 trekkers with our trek lead met at Rishikesh and proceeded towards the divine Gangotri Dham which is the biggest Ganga Devi temple, acclimatized there and then trek started the next day …1st camp was Chirbasa,2nd camp was Bhojbasa, then trek to Gaumukh and then to Tapovan …in the process got a magnificent glimpse of all the following Mountain peaks …
Mt.Thelu
Mt.Sudarshan
Mt.Satopant
Mt.Vasuki
Mt.Bhagirathi 2
Mt.Bhagirathi 3
Mt.Bhagirathi 1
Mt.Rajhiv Gandhi
Mt.Shivling
Mt.Karchakunda
Mt.Kedar dome
Mt.Meru
Mt.Bhrigupant
Mt.Manda

We all had a successful summit at Tapovan and began our descent back to Gangotri.
We had an extra day to do some sightseeing near Gangotri and visited some apple orchards in Harsil village. All in all ,another experience of a lifetime which shall always be etched in my memory.
I bow my head in reverence to the Mountain Gods for giving me the Calling, keeping me fit and healthy in adverse weather conditions at high altitudes during the trek and giving me the mesmerizing views which no camera can do complete justice to …Summit at Tapovan with Mount Shivling at the backdrop was one of the most divine moments I have ever experienced.

I thank my lifelines-hubby dearest and both my kids Akash and Ashna for always supporting me in living my dream and doing things that quench my soul.I also thank my trekking family,Eighty degree adventure sports for mentoring me,motivating me and believing in me at all times.

We had no plan to visit this place . While approaching kaza we saw a sign board for mane village. During our last halt at Tabo we had overlooked one map which had reference of Mane lake. Since we had whole day in hand we decided to visit this place.

Till the time we reach at Mane village we were under impression that the lake is just near the village we will quickly visit and trun back.

We reached at village, spoke to locals and realised that it is almost 2-3 hrs trek with continues asent. We decided to go for it but we had no idea about the route. We asked locals and took a fair idea about the direction and route.

We started our journey on unknown path. Initially for an hour we were sceptical about the trail we were walking on. Fortunately we reached at the pont where I got 50% sure about the trail we were walking on.
We had decided turn back after 2 hrs if we couldn't reach the lake. But the curiosity to explore that lake didn't allow us to quit and we continued till we reach the destination.
So this is how we spent our day today. unplanned yet fruitful.

Trek Name - Mane Lake (Sopona lake)
Altitude- 14000ft from base village Mane.
Distance covered- approximately 12km
