Around 60,000 visas for skilled workers were issued to foreign nationals in 2021 under Germany's Skilled Workers Immigration Act,
The number was 30,000 in 2020 when the German Skilled Workers Immigration Act was rolled out in March. Indian nationals were issued 1,197 visas in that period.
Germany, being a manufacturing powerhouse, is one of the favorite destinations for people all over the world to work.
The work visa is issued to those who have completed vocational training in Germany or an equivalent course from elsewhere which is recognized in Germany.

Canada invited 1,047 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian immigration on March 2.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) only invited Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates in the new invitation round. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut off was 761. The minimum score was relatively high because PNP candidates get an automatic 600 points added to their score when they receive their nomination. Without the nomination, the lowest-scoring candidates would have had 161 base points.
Invited candidates now have 60 days to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
In the previous round of invitations, IRCC invited a total of 1,082 PNP candidates to apply for Canadian immigration. It was a record for the number of Express Entry candidates invited in a single round of invitations.

Canada is slowly beginning to clear its mounting backlog of immigration applications, giving priority to work permits.
At a recent meeting with the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration, Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser reiterated his earlier assurance of improving processing times for work permits.
According to news reports, Fraser said that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) would use its $85 million budget to reduce processing times - made worse by the pandemic.
Fraser had previously announced that service standards for work permits, study permits, proof of citizenship, and permanent residence card renewals would return to normal by the end of 2022.
While the funds would be used to develop tools such as electronic application systems and online application trackers, IRCC Assistant Deputy Minister Daniel Mills clarified that this might not necessarily improve processing times for permanent resident applications yet.
Standard processing time for work permits submitted outside of Canada is 60 days, except for International Experience Canada (IEC) work permits, which take 56 days. Work permit extensions submitted in Canada take up to 120 days for processing.
Before the pandemic, IRCC met these deadlines more than 87% of the time, according to reports. Official data for 2020-2021 have not yet been released.
This comes at a time when the backlog in Canada's immigration service’s topped 1.8 million - including applications from future citizens, permanent residents, international students, temporary workers, and visitors. As of February 1, IRCC has more than 85,000 work permit applications pending.
On January 31, Minister Fraser announcement Fraser announced that Canada is planning to make 147,000 PR decisions in the first quarter of 2022—double that from the same period in 2021.
Canada had nearly 900,000 job openings this past November, according to a report by Statistics Canada and immigration has long been the country's strategy to support labor market growth.
The country plans to welcome more than 1.3 million new immigrants to the country over the next three years to help its economy recover from COVID-19 and to drive future growth.

Canada is increasing its immigration targets yet again to fuel post-pandemic growth and help fill critical labor shortages. This is good news for Indians who want to get settled as they comprise the single largest source country for immigrants to Canada.
Canada aims to attract about 1.3 million new immigrants over the next three years, overall admissions amounting to 1.14% of the Canadian population by 2024. These are the targets the Canadian government is looking at:
2022: 431,645 permanent residents.
2023: 447,055 permanent residents.
2024: 451,000 permanent residents.
The majority of immigration into Canada is in the economic class, with Indians making for almost 60% of those numbers, according to a Hindustan Times report.
The 2021 Annual Report to Parliament on Immigration, tabled this week, showed that India remains the largest source country for immigration into Canada.
“The arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 reduced the intake severely, but of the 184,606 permanent residents admitted that year, Indians accounted for 42,876, or 23% of the total and almost two-and-a-half times the numbers for the next highest, China, at 16,535," according to the report.
India has consistently been the biggest source country since 2017, when it overtook China among permanent residents (PR). In 2019, as many as 85,593, Indian-origin PR, a quarter of the total, were admitted into Canada.
In 2021, Canada welcomed more than 405,000 new permanent residents—the most immigrants in a single year in Canada's history. The Canadian government has struggled to clear a backlog of about 1.8 million visa/citizenship due to covid-19
