👉India hosts its first-ever G20 summit in Delhi, showcasing its culture, achievements, and aspirations to the world.
✅G20 is an acronym for Group of Twenty, which is an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 19 countries and the European Union. The members of G20 are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.
✅The main purpose of G20 is to discuss and promote cooperation on global issues such as economic growth, trade, financial stability, climate change, health, development, and innovation. The G20 also invites representatives from other international organizations such as the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Trade Organization to participate in its meetings.
✅The G20 holds annual summits where the leaders of the member countries meet to review the progress and set the agenda for the next year. The first G20 summit was held in Washington D.C. in 2008 in response to the global financial crisis. Since then, the G20 has held 15 summits in different locations around the world.
✅The G20 summit in 2023 will be hosted by India in Delhi. This will be the first time that India will host the G20 summit and the second time that an Asian country will host it after China in 2016. The theme of the summit will be “Inclusive Growth: Global Recovery, Resilience and Sustainability”. The summit will focus on how to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and how to build a more resilient and sustainable future for all.
✅The G20 summit is not a celebration but a high-level diplomatic event that aims to address the common challenges and opportunities facing the world. However, it is also an opportunity for the host country to showcase its culture, achievements, and aspirations to the global audience. India is expected to use the summit as a platform to highlight its role as a responsible and influential actor in the international arena and to strengthen its relations with other countries.
