Jal Mahal Palace (Water Palace) is located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. This architectural marvel seems to be floating on the surface of the lake. This Palace was built as a hunting lodge of Maharajas.
Few lesser-known facts about Jal Mahal Palace:
- This Palace was built and used as a hunting lodge/picnic spot hence no personal chamber was built inside it
- Jal Mahal’s most beautiful terrace garden is known as Chameli Bagh.
- Jal Mahal Palace was built when the lake bed was completely dried up and the whole ground level was visible.
- Palace’s walls were so strongly built using stone and lime mortar that they prevented water from seeping in.
