Divine Experience
Journey started on 05 July 2022 and visited the shrine on 06 July 2022.
One has to be mentally and physically (to a certain extent depending on ones strong believes) prepared for a tough terrain (approx 14,000 ft high) and weather (sliding glaciers, snowfall etc).
At the same time fellow travelers in thousands moving in Que, either walking or on ponies, will give moral boost and the fresh air & the serene beauty of the surroundings will provide sufficient strength to move forward. Service provided by the J&K police the camps on the ground to the shrine at the top is exemplary and to be commented. They are a class apart from the normal CRPF Force (or part) we come across with and too kind to provide all sort of help to the travelers. They are also taking care of the security of the people and the region.
Hats off to them. Medical facility is also available without any hitch and free of charge.
Food and water are made available by the organizers /charitable organisations.
Helicopter ride is possible (for a reasonable price) up to a certain level of height from the base camp; operation subject to weather being favorable.
Topography is so beautiful and trip ends up as a really memorable one.
Darshan of the Lord in the form of 'Barf' (Ice) cannot be explained! Heavenly!
To add to the wonderful experience two doves could be seen seated in a separate place on top of the cave, giving credence to the myth that they were present there while the secret of Life was advised to Ma Parvathy by none other than Lord Siva himself at the Amarnath Cave.
Travel Tips: To be extremely careful in choosing the time of travel (as the Idol starts melting in line with the hot weather and now a days faster due to 'global warming'), ensure that (a) the travel bookings are done accordingly and (b) the necessary medical check up & obtaining certificate to prove ones fitness for the journey as per requirement (can be checked at the web site) is in hand, arrangement for the stay at the camps at Sonamarg is in place, booking of helicopter rides is done beforehand (normally operates from early morning till evening) and ensure to bargain & fix the charges for the pony ride (if required) prior to the climb.
Advisable to carry some warm clothes, rain coat or umbrella (possibility of rain exist during the Yatra period), cap, hand gloves, walking shoes with socks, water bottle, fruits or eatables like nuts & chocolate to boost energy; a light 'back pack' will be ideal to avoid excess weight.
