Kareri lake trek:
Kareri Lake is named after the nearby Gaddi village of Kareri, situated 9 km south east of the lake.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kareri Lake is a high altitude, shallow, fresh water lake south of the Dhauladhar range
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Its surface is 2934 metres above the sea level. Snow melting from the Dhauladhar range serves as the source of the lake and a stream, Nyund is the outflow.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since the source is fresh melting snow and the lake is shallow, water visibility is very high and in most places, the lake bed can be seen.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kareri lake is best known for being a trekking destination in the Dhauladhars. The lake remains frozen from early December to March–April.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Shakti on a hilltop overlooking the lake.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few Gaddi huts and cottages can be seen on the other side of the lake.

Kareri Lake serves as a base for trekking further into the Dhauladhar and onward to Chamba and Bharmour via the Minkiani Pass and Baleni Pass .

500 year old Indian Mummy, Giu, India
Giu is a small village, comprising barely of about 50 to 75 houses, situated at a height of approximately 10,000 feet above the sea level. It is located between the towns of Sumdo and Tabo, around 40 kilometers away from the popular 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery. This place is no less than a wonder to witness how a human body has been preserved for so many years without any sign of decay or use of chemicals. It is believed to be of a lama who died in a sitting position when he was only 45 years old. It can still be seen in a sitting position and there is a belt tied around its body that is believed to be the gomthak that monks would tie around their neck and down till the knee as they meditated. Some believe that the yogic posture in which the monk is sitting can self-preserve the body. The monk, from the Gelugapa order, was called Sangha Tenzin. It is fondly called Mummy Lama by the villagers.

The majestic gushing milk like water falling from the height of 1017ft makes its India’s one of tallest waterfalls situated in Bhagvan Mahaveer Sanctuary.The view is both breath taking and awe inspiring.
