Andaman Woodpecker
Endemic to the Andaman Islands. The Andaman Woodpecker is a large and strikingly similar looking as the White-bellied Woodpecker of Western Ghats but the Andaman woodpecker is all Black even the belly with a bright red crest. The Male is easily identified by its Red Crown & Malar area under the eye (Pictured above) something which the females lack.

Taken during our Night birding tour, We Spotted the 1. Andaman Scops Owl, 3. Oriental Scops Owl and a Distant view of 1. Hume's Hawk Owl.

Next day night, We spotted the 2 Hume's Hawk Owl, 1. Andaman Hawk Owl & a failed pursuit of Andaman Barn Owl.

Found only on the undisturbed beaches of Andaman & Nicobar Islands in India. Beach thick-knee is a ground dwelling bird and is one of world's largest shorebird. It is currently classified as Near Threatend on the IUCN Red list.

Red Lionfish (Pterois volitans)

Native to the indo-pacific region, the Red Lionfish is another venomous fish which is beautiful to look at. Their venomous dorsal spines are used only for defense & those spines cause excruciating pain, numbness, fever & breathing problems. Learned to stay away from them the hard away after getting stung while photographing them off Northern Andamans.
