During the months of March and April, the summer season starts and when the heat goes on its high, Human to Animals, Birds to Pets, everyone look for a sigh of relief from the scorching sky.
This is a seasonal phenomenon and the natural cycle of Nature and Climate what we often complaint about, “Oh it’s too hot, it’s too cold, it’s too rainy these days, (though, climate change is an man made issue now-a –days)
But…..our ancestors, our predecessors, they knew how to tackle, handle and live up with the changes happens in climate.
Chandan (Sandalwood) Yatra where the deities take deep bath on a ritualistic pond filled up with sandalwood paste, milk and with much fragrance for hours, the sandalwood paste that is smeared on the idols to keep them cool during the festival. And then Idols take rounds of the Narendra Pond in a decorated Canoe, this Festival Continues for 21 days.
Centuries and Millenniums back, THEY KNEW HOW TO LIVE WITH THE NATURE AND ITS GIFT WITHOUT COMPLAINING. And that’s how these beautiful Festivals started;
We the people of Puri, welcome summer season by celebrating Pana Sankranti and distributing Pana, the delicious drinks made of Milk and Fruits. And for rest of days take bath in ponds, put sandal paste on forehead to keep cool.
It’s not only a Festival, it’s a way of Life.
