The Pálacio do Deaõ, an 18th century historical house is situated in Quepem, on the banks of the Kushavati river.
It was constructed around 1787 by José Paulo Costa Pereira e Almeida .
It has an unusual style of architecture blending Hindu and Portuguese culture.
It’s lush tropical gardens, which have retained some of their historical features, furnish us with information on a complex garden quite unparalleled in Goa.
The Portuguese historian, Lopes Mendes drew this sketch of the house when he visited there in 1862.
