89th birthday of father, Prof. B. M. Thakare
Our father was born on 1st April 1936 at Rui (Wai), District Yavatmal, Central Province and Berar as a 3rd child out of 6 children in a family of labour and farmer late Sh. Mahadeorao Pilaji Thakare and the late Mrs. Ahilyabai Mahadeorao Thakare.
During his school year he had to struggle financially and have to walk around 8 km daily to attend the school. While walking to the school daily he observed the civil engineer instructing the contractor to build Buildings, road, bridge and decided to be Engineer since those days. He did the schooling from Akola bazar and Samarth School, Ghatanji. He had to walk down to about 20 km from home to school and back.
For pursuing his primary school, he was helped by his brother-in-law Late Sh. Bhuraji Raut, Akpuri, and do tailoring at his aunt's place to earn. Later to repay Sh. Raut obligation he taught his two sons Sh. Shesh Rao and Anant Raut at Raipur.
In middle school and Shivaji high school, Yavatmal, he was a scholar and completed his schooling first in the order of merit.
With scholarship, He did Interscience from Vidarbha Mahavidyalay, Amravati, He was a batchmate with Dr. N. P. Hirani, Dr. Ramesh Ingle, Sh. Avinash Bendre,..
With scholarship he completed B. E. Civil, with Honour and in the order of merit from the prestigious Government College of Engineering, Jabalpur. His classmates were Dr. Sarna, Prof. Dineshchandra Shrivastava, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Dr. Ramesh Ingle.
During persuasion of his degree in the third year he was married to Ms. Leelatai Khode, D/o Late Namdeorao Tukaram Khode, Village Manpur, Yavatmal.
After meritorious completion of the degree the Government offered him a post of lecturer At Government Polytechnic, Raigarh (M. P. Now C. G.) in which he served 3 years.
After that papa served as a lecturer and then reader in the Government Engineering College, now NIT, Raipur for 24 years.
Papa started civil engineering Consultancy only after his insulting or illegal reversion or demotion from the post of Reader to lecturer during emergency years 1974 - 1976 for only surname being "Thakare" to meet up our household, and educational expenses and after Jabalpur high court decision he was reinstated as a reader and paid his salary.
In 1961 his first daughter was born, they named her as Vandana. Vandana was not only good at studies but also she was very good at art and crafts. She was Bachelor of Science, from Government science College, Raipur. Later she was married to Sh. P. N. Raut, Nagpur. They are having children Payal and Parag.
In 1963 a second daughter was born, they named her as Chayya. Chayya tai is not only good at studies but also she is good at sports, arts and cultural activities.
Later she was married to Dr. Subhash Bhoyar. She has two sons Sumit and Sagar.
In 1967, Tanuja was born, Tanuja tai is not only good at studies but also she is good at sports, arts and cultural activities. She completed her degree in commerce. She was married to Sh. Milind Gotey and resident of Mumbai. She has two daughters Riddhi and Siddhi.
In 1970 I was born and next to me, Nayana was born in 1971, she did her graduation in Computer science and engineering. She was married to Sh. Hemant Ambulkar and resident of Singapore.
Prof B. M. Thakare was warden of Hostel B, and chief coordinator of many Social gatherings of the college of Engineering, Raipur including Silver Jubilee celebrations.
During those years his students were Sh. S. K. Agrawal, Sh. Rakesh Chaturvedi, Sh. Abhaynath Thakur, Sh. G. L. Thakur, Sh. D. K. Agrawal, Dr. M. L. Agarwal, Ms. Rajshree Deshmukh....
In the year 2018, on Teacher's Day he was felicitated by the Alumni of the Government College of Engineering, Raipur for his immense contribution in the teaching.
Papa was group captain of NCC in the college for more than 20 years and offered Major post in the Indian ЁЯЗоЁЯЗ│ Army, which was later denied by the my grandfather.
In 1983, he was offered the job of Professor and Principal at Private Engineering College, College of Engineering at Pusad, M. S.
Papa planned, designed each and every buildings of the whole campus with the help of few faculty members and Architects.
He was Dean and Chairman board of studies of Civil Engineering of Amravati University, Amravati from 1983 to 1997. He was nominated as Chairman on the various committees by the Vice Chancellor.
He was felicitated by the Institution of Engineers, Maharashtra state centre, Nagpur as Eminent Engineer along with his friends Dr. Ramesh Ingle, Sh. Avinash Bendre,...in the Platinum Jubilee year of the Institution of Engineers (India) in the year 1996.
For his immense contribution to the institute JSPM, students have reciprocated well and he was appointed as the Director, Technical which he held up to 2008.
During his life time he and mummy ji trained and taken responsibility of educating his brother in law Late Vishnu Namdeo Rao Khode, his nephews Shesh Rao, Ananta bhau, Bhau Arun Anandrao Thakare, Vijay Ramrao Thakare, Hari Ramrao Thakare, Rajesh Chaudhary, Kailash Choudhary, Nitin Dambhare and many more.
In 2008 he left Pusad and shifted to Nagpur and purchased the house in Jayanti Nagari 2, Beltarodi Besa road, Behind Global logic, Nagpur and was president of the society till his last breath 14th July 2019, 3:40 am.
He was also a founder member of Maharashtra Mandal, Raipur and Paul Harris fellow of the Rotary club.
Before leaving this world he bestowed the award or title of this World on me that you are my best son as "Shravan Kumar" . No more awards and titles needed to match up this title ever!
However, still his thoughts, writing, legacy, blessings will always be with us and always with you as well!
