Today marrks the 78TH BIRTHDAY OF HARBHAJAN BABA |

Today, August 30th, marks the 78th birthday of Baba Harbhajan Singh, born in 1946. Baba Harbhajan Singh, also known as the Saint of Nathula, continues to serve both in life and death on the Nathula border between India and China in East Sikkim. Despite his passing in 1968 at the age of 22 while on duty in Sikkim, Baba Harbhajan Singh is still believed to guard the Nathula Border.

He is revered by both the Indian and Chinese armies, who continue to honor his presence. During flag meetings between the two nations, the Chinese army sets aside a chair for the saint, recognising his undying spirit and commitment.

Striking Facts about Saint Captain Harbhajan Singh:

1. Guardian of the Border: Baba is said to warn soldiers of impending attacks at least three days in advance, continuing to guard the international boundary.

2. Respected by Both Armies: During flag meetings between India and China, a chair is set aside for Baba by the Chinese army.

3. Baba Mandir: The Baba Mandir, built in his honor, contains three rooms—his office, store room, and living room. His belongings, including a bed, shoes, slippers, uniform, and other necessities, are kept in perfect condition.

4. Daily Rituals: His room is cleaned every morning, and sometimes soldiers find his bed crumpled and his shoes muddy, as if he has been there.

5. Presence Felt: Soldiers have often reported sensing Baba’s presence, finding evidence that he visits the camps and his post.

6. Continuing Service: Baba Harbhajan Singh continues to draw a Major’s salary every month and is granted two months of leave annually.

7. Annual Journey: On September 11th each year, his belongings are sent to his hometown. A berth is reserved for him on the train from New Jalpaiguri station, Siliguri, and left empty for the entire journey, accompanied by a team of soldiers.

8. Army Vigilance: The Army remains on high alert when Baba is on leave, maintaining the same discipline and respect as when he was alive.

Some soldiers never die, and Baba Harbhajan Singh's legacy continues to inspire and protect those at the border.

The town of Rongli came alive with the spirited participation of Newar communities from various corners of Sikkim in the joyous Bhimsen Puja and Jatra festivities. The event, marked by exuberance and cultural fervor, witnessed a procession of Newar community members clad in traditional attire, dancing joyfully with Lakhey dancers from Bhimsen Mandir to the Melatar Community Hall in Rongli.

Day 1 : Pick up from Bagdogra Airport/ NJP Railway Station and transfer to the Sillery Gaon. Overnight stay at the Sillery Gaon.

Day 2 : Morning Trek to amity View Point. After doing the breakfast move for Zuluk, covering Mankhim Top, Kuekhola Water Falls, Rangli, Nimachen, Lingtam, Padamchen. Overnight stay at the Zuluk.

Day 3 : Early morning Start for Sunrise to witness the changing colors on Mt. Kanchenjungha & Himalayan Range from Ganek or Thambi View Point. After doing breakfast, we will start for Silk Route Trail to reach Lungthung Valley covering Ganek, Adi Baba Dham, Thambi View Point, Kupup, Tukla Valley, Elephant Lake, Golf Course, Jelep La Pass View Point and overnight stay at the Gnathang.

Day 4 : After breakfast check out from the hotel and transfer to the Reshikhola. Overnight stay and enjoy at Reshikhola.
