Divided with a river, United by Culture ❤️🙇🏻‍♂️

The river Mahakali is the natural border between Nepal and India in Dharchula, Uttarakhand. ~

Known for its rich culture and vivid traditions, the bijou town of Dharchula is located in the heart of the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand also in nepal

It is perched at an elevation of 915 meters and is a major destination of the Kumaon region, lying on the Kailash Mansarovar and Chota Kailash parvat

The localities with traditional outfits can be seen with their livestock grazing in the field. Perched at an altitude of over 1600 meters above sea level, the riverside retreat of Tirthan is an adventure-centric getaway blessed with a wealth of nature’s treasures. Located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, Tirthan Valley derives its name from the Tirthan river, which winds its way through it. The pristine river originates from the icy cold glacial springs of Hanskund, a snow-capped peak in the verdant Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP).

Tirthan is an offbeat destination that has something for everyone. This quiet valley is ideal for trekking, fishing, wildlife watching, and discovering under-explored hill villages. There’s also the option of doing absolutely nothing as you relax among the pine trees in the valley.

So if you like to scout around uncharted terrain, pack your bags and head towards Tirthan. For now, we can only give you a few glimpses of this beautiful valley:

Karsog is an ancient town and is described in folk tales of the epic Mahabharata. Karsog is the combination of two words: "Kar" and "sog", translating to "daily mourning". According to the Mahabharata, during the time of Pandavas, a Rakshasha used to eat a townsperson each day. During their exile, Pandavas visited the town and came to know about the demon. Bhim destroyed a demon by offering himself as food as an alternative to eating the villagers. This relieved the town of its daily mourning. Pandavas built many temples in this area.Karsog is famous for its temples, including the Mamlesh-war Mahadev, Kamaksha Devi, MahunNag, Someshwar Mahadev Somakothi temples. The treks around Karsog and Chindi are among the most picturesque areas of Himachal Pradesh. There are wide valleys crisscrossed by streams and carpeted with fields of assorted vegetables and grain. From fertile floors, orchards and thick forests rise to touch snow-covered peaks.

Chagar Tso

A beautiful small lake that gets ignored because people are rushing to see its bigger sibling. This lake is called Chagar Tso (or Chaghar Tso) and is located about 20 kilometers before Pangong Tso. But since everyone is excited to see Pangong and rushing towards it, rarely anyone bothers to stop to see Chagar Lake which maybe tiny in size but stunningly beautiful nonetheless. This is the lake which is right there, but invisible. Nobody sees it. This little lake is a gem in its own right, yet even in peak season, you won’t find anybody here. Everyone is focused on Pangong Tso.

Distance from Leh: 135 kilometers
Altitude: 4,205 meters
Best time to Visit: May to September
Accommodation: None
Motorable Road: Yes
Public Transport: Yes
Permits Issued: Yes

You do not need to spare any additional time for this lake. It is right next to the road on Leh Pangong route, sitting silently, sparkling in the sunlight all day long and watching the tourists pass by. Just keep an eye out for this small wonder, stop for a while to take a break, click some photos and be on your way.
