Complete Travel Guide For Your Trip

1. Opening & Closing Date
The opening of Kedarnath Dham for 2022 was declared on Mahashivratri on 6th May. The closing date of Kedarnath is fixed and on the day 26 Oct (i.e day after Diwali)

2. Registration:
Char Dham Yatra or Kedarnath Registration can be done through the Registration 'Tourist Care Uttarakhand' website and the Mobile Application. It is mandatory to do so.

3. How to Reach
By Air:
The closest domestic airport to Kedarnath is Jolly Grant Airport (239 km away) in Dehradun. It is well-connected to the base camp of Kedarnath, takes about 6-7 hours of drive to reach Rudraprayag.

Helicopter Service:
There are multiple helicopter services available in Uttrakhand. You can either take a direct chopper from Dehradun which costs upwards of a lakh (includes all four dhams) or you can take a chopper from - Guptkashi, Sersi or Phata in Rudraprayag. Remember to acclimatise for a day before you take a chopper to Kedarnath.

Cost: The cost is around ₹8000 PP for a round trip depending on which service and helipad you fly from. You can also opt for a one way trip. The passengers get 2.5 to 3 hours for Kedarnath darshan. The passengers have to undergo a biometric medical check up before flying.

By Road:
Situated on NH 109, the quickest way to get to Kedarnath is via trek from Gaurikund (16 km away). Gaurikund is very well-connected to other parts in and around Uttarakhand by roadways.

By Rail:
The closest railway station is in Rishikesh (215 km away). You will also get taxi and bus options available to get to Gaurikund from the station. The only way to reach Kedarnath is via trekking from Gaurikund.

4. Best Time to Visit
The best months to visit Kedarnath are from May to June, with an average temperature of 15 to 30° C. The rainy season from July leads to uncertainty in weather conditions. From here on till the winter season begins, is the peak season to visit Kedarnath.
