19 members from a foremost non-profit NGO successfully completed their Bird-watching and Nature appreciation trip to Walong and Namdapha Tiger Reserve recently. In an 11 days trip, they counted almost 300 bird species, many of which were lifers to them. The White-bellied Heron was a miss but that did not reduce their enthusiasm.

We have already initiated a community & conservation-based tourism project along the Deban –Vijaynagar area. We will keep you informed of the progress very soon. Please stay tuned.

The members of the NGO very kindly agreed to visit Namdapha Nalanda Nature School at M’pen 2 village, located strategically in the buffer zone of Namdapha Tiger Reserve. This is a charitable project initiated and founded by Help Tourism ,Stefan Loose Foundation and the local NGO named SEACOW in 2008 in collaboration with the local communities and friends and patrons from various parts of the human planet, with the main intention to assist the local communities in preserving their vanishing cultural heritages and conserving the biodiversity of Asia’s Last Wild Frontier as well as to assist them revive the oral traditions and languages of the native communities and empower the children to understand the real values of the cultural and natural resources they inherited through generations.

We thankfully acknowledge all our patrons and supporters for their generous support and contributions to the project.

Way to go!

Mangrove forests are of significant ecological importance. It prevents coastline erosion, mitigates the effect of tides. The tangled roots of the mangrove forest act as a nursery for many organisms, protecting them from predators, strong heat, and forceful tides. Apart from supporting rich biodiversity, coastal forests remove five times more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than terrestrial forests.
The is considered as the largest mangrove forest in the world, It stretches from the Baleswar River in Bangladesh’s Khulna division to the Hooghly River in India’s West Bengal state.
Sundarban has 693 species of wildlife, including 49 mammal species, 59 reptile species, 8 amphibian species, 210 white fish species, 24 shrimp species, 14 crab species, and 43 mollusk species. 315 species of waterfowl, raptors, and forest birds that can be found there, including nine species of kingfishers and the marvelous white-bellied sea eagle.
It is vital for globally vulnerable species such as the Royal Bengal Tiger, Ganges and Irawadi dolphins, estuarine crocodiles, and the nearly extinct endemic river terrapin (Batagur baska). Moreover, other animals include boars, spotted deer, raccoons, and Rhesus squirrel monkeys. The King cobra, popular cobra, Banded krait, and Russell’s viper are among the venomous reptiles, while the Python, Chequered Kil-Back, Dhaman, Green Whip Snake, and several other species are non-venomous snakes found in the Sundarban,. A unique ecosystem forms a delicate balance with the huge human population, who are completely dependent on the mangrove forest for their livelihood.
Sundarbans Jungle camp – Help Tourism Private Limited first land based community led tourism initiative for rehabilitation of surrendered poachers is now proud to be a part of eco-tourism project creating awareness about the importance of Mangrove since 2005.
