The Himachal Pradesh High Court has recently issued a directive to the Deputy Commissioner of Kullu district, urging the establishment of an upper age limit for individuals participating in adventurous sports such as kayaking and river rafting in the region. The court emphasized the importance of requiring senior citizens engaging in these activities to present a “fitness certificate”.

The decision comes after a review of safety regulations in river rafting and other adventurous sports. The court identified deficiencies in safety protocols and highlighted instances of non-compliance with the Himachal Pradesh River Rafting Rules, 2005. To enhance safety measures, especially following the tragic death of a 65-year-old tourist, the court aims to reinforce safety measures in river sports.

Further deliberations on this matter are scheduled for July 18. For those planning a river rafting adventure in Himachal Pradesh, here are five places perfect for river rafting.

The increasing rate of dengue fever cases nationwide in Indonesia has sparked concerns about the spread of the disease in Bali. From January to April 2024, Bali reported a total of 4,177 cases and five deaths due to dengue fever. Authorities are taking proactive measures to address the situation and ensure the health and safety of both residents and visitors to the island.

Indian tourists visiting Bali for less than 30 days do not require a visa on arrival, but if their stay exceeds 30 days but is less than 60 days, they will need to obtain a visa on arrival. To reach Bali, travelers can fly into Ngurah Rai International Airport (also known as Denpesar International Airport) located in the capital city of Denpasar, which serves both domestic and international flights.

------------------------------
Dubai recently experienced extraordinary torrential rains, resulting in widespread flooding across the desert city. The UAE has experienced its heaviest rains in the 75 years for which it has kept weather records, according to meteorological authorities. Here are the key points:

𝟏. 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥: On Tuesday, up to 259.5mm (10.2 inches) of rain fell in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking the heaviest rainfall in 75 years. The state-run WAM news agency described it a “historic weather event” that surprised all previous records since data collection began in 1949.

𝟐. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐨𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Residents faced harrowing situations, with some spending the night in their cars due to flooded roads. Commutes turned into 12-hour ordeals as vehicles struggled through waterlogged streets.

𝟑. 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Dubai, International Airport, one of the busiest hubs for international travel, experienced significant delays. Passengers endured chaotic scenes, with flights repeatedly postponed. Some travelers were diverted to Dubai World Central Airport (Al Maktoum airport), where they faced shortages of food and water. The situation was described as “absolute carnage” by frustrated passengers.

𝟒. 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲: Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, acknowledged the challenges and praised the efforts of citizens and residents working tirelessly to manage the aftermath of the floods.

Dubai, a city known for its arid climate, has been taking steps to adapt to extreme weather events and address the challenges posed by climate change. At the recent COP28 climate summit in Dubai, nearly every country agreed to transition away from fossil fuels, recognizing other role as the main driver of climate change.

Dubai’s commitment to climate adaptation and mitigation reflects its determination to face the challenges posed by extreme weather events and contribute to global efforts in combating climate change.
