As part of a campaign to promote tourism in Tezpur, the Sonitpur district administration has launched a slogan writing competition which is open for all persons and students above Class VIII.

📌Interested participants may submit entries in either English or Assamese language to [email protected] before September 25, 2021.

📌Participants should mention their names, age and mobile number correctly along with their submissions.

📌Winners will be felicitated on September 27, 2021 on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

📌Top ten entries in each category will receive certificates from the administration and top three in each category will receive cash prize and certificate of Rs. 5000, Rs.3000 and Rs. 2000.

In your next visit to Kaziranga National Park, try to extend your stay for a trip to Karbi Villages nearby. The Karbis have been residing there for ages and these villages are said to be repositories of unique culture with roots in animism. Three of the known villages are Dolamara, Chandrasingh Rongpi Gaon and Silim Khuwa.

Dolamara is known for its unique religious tradition. Chandrasingh Rongpi Gaon nearest to Kaziranga is a small picturesque village where residents still perform rituals like San-ki-mi-kechu before eating the first bamboo shoots of the season. Silim Khowa is the village where you can opt for a three-hour trek & birding in the hills through tea and rubber plantations.

How to reach: Dolamara (by road, 20 kms from Kohora, Kaziranga), Silim Khuwa (by road, 25 kms from Kohora, Kaziranga)
