Chettinad (also known as Chettinadu) is a region located mainly in the Sivaganga district historically ruled by Ramnad kingdom of Pandya Nadu and has a small portion extending into the Pudukottai District in Tamil Nadu, India.[citation needed]. Karaikudi is the major town of this area and considered the urban center for Chettinad villages.
residents of Chettinad were trading in South and Southeast Asia, particularly Burma, Ceylon, Vietnam and Malaysia. By 2010, only 74 villages remained of the original 96organized in clusters spread over a territory of 1,550 square kilometres (600 square miles) in the Districts of Sivagangai and Pudukottai in the State of Tamil Nadu. It finds itself in the UNESCO nomination for palatial house sites of historic and cultural value. It is located on the national highway NH536 between Trichy and Karaikudiwhich is approximately 10kms away from this place.

DAY 1 TRICHY ARRIVAL

DAY 2 TRICHY – MADURAI
After break fast drive to madurai to visit the world famous meenakshi amman temple,alagar temple, thiruparamkundram(one of the arupadai veedu), palamuthir cholai (one of the arupadai veedu). Over night saty a madurai.

DAY 3 MADURAI – MUNNAR
After break fast drive to munnar for a sightseeing tour of munnar covering mattupetty lake & dam, echo point, kundale lake, blossom garden, rajamalai and eravikulam wildlife sanctuary famous for the nilgiri tahr and tea gardens. Over night stay at munnar.

DAY 4 MUNNAR – THEKKADY
After break fast drive to thekkady en route visit the panoramic western ghat hills covered with spice plantations and an occasional view of waterfalls and streams, several types of spice plantations like cardamom, vanilla, pepper, cinnamon and clove. Kalari fight, kadhakali dance, elephant ride, ayiruvethic massage. On arrival at thekkady, check into hotel.

DAY 5 THEKKADY – ALLEPPEY
After break fast drive to alleppey. On arrival alleppey transfer to deluxe house boat. Staying in this moving palace is breathtakingly stimulating experience. While sailing down a maze of canals one sees different scenes from the villages,paddy fields, coconut palms, fisherman and local life. Lunch, dinner next day breakfast will be provided in the boat. DAY 2 TRICHY – RAMESWARAM
After break fast drive to rameswaram one of the 12 jyotirlingas in india.
