Battle of Imphal We offer original tours of the WWII battlefields of Imphal, Kohima, Assam, and Myanmar/Burma.
(1)

We are the pioneers of WWII battlefield tours in India and Myanmar (Burma). Each of our tour has been specially conceptualised, researched, and launched. We also aim to increase awareness about other forgotten aspects of local history. In 1944, the British Fourteenth Army and the Japanese Fifteenth Army, together with a small force from the Indian National Army (INA), clashed around Imphal and Koh

ima. This encounter in North East India has since been described as one of the greatest battles of the Second World War. In April 2013, Imphal-Kohima together were voted 'Britain's Greatest Battle' by the UK's National Army Museum. The twin battles, the main turning point of the Second World War's Burma Campaign, are also considered the greatest defeat on land for the Japanese.

The walk from Jessami to Kohima will begin this midnight. The walkers will retrace the footsteps of Lt. Col. ‘Bruno’ Brown (CO of the 1st Assam Regiment) and his men who took the same route exactly 80 years ago in April 1944. The walk will be led by our good friends Charlotte Carty, grand daughter of Lt. Col. Brown, and historian Dr. Robert (Rob) Lyman, MBE. We wish the walkers and all others involved in this event a grand success. Thank you Rob for sharing this wonderful photo.

In the darkest hours of the Second World War, thousands of men from Burma gave their lives fighting a brutal war for Britain against the Japanese.

But after the Allied victory, Burma sank into isolation, dictatorship and civil war, and Britain forgot the bravery of these men.

Join us for a documentary screening of 'Forgotten Allies' on the 17th April and meet the filmmakers who were determined to make sure the stories of Burma's lost heroes were not forgotten.

Hundreds of tourists and visitors, who came to witness the vibrancy of the Naga cultural milieu at the Hornbill Festival, also took the time out to spend some solemn moments at the famous World War II Cemetery located in the heart of Kohima.

“I wanted to come here and pay my tribute because this cemetery is about the unsung heroes,” said Dr. Avlokita Sharma, who came with her husband to the Hornbill Festival, the motivation to visit the Kohima War Cemetery was to pay tribute to the “unsung heroes.” “So I think it’s the duty of every citizen to come here, visit, and do our bit,” she told Eastern Mirror.

“I can’t even feel or imagine the pain that families would have gone through losing their loved ones at such a young age…It’s a feeling of a different kind altogether,” she said after the poignant realisation hit her that many of the soldiers were very young.

Snehasis Sur, the president of Press Club Kolkata, said he embarked on the journey to Kohima with the primary goal of witnessing the renowned Battle of Kohima site.

Despite having limited knowledge about this pivotal World War II battle, Sur said he was drawn to the historical significance it held in shaping the post-war scenario.
