Presenting some moments from our recently concluded tour to Gir National Park from 19 to 21 May. I was special in many ways! The most thrilling moment was in tracking a male lion and following his trail. And the result is for you to see. This huge male walked towards us in beautiful golden light and passed by us giving goosebumps!
We also had leopard on the target and in our very next safari we could track the leopard in National Park.
We also saw several other males, females and grownup cubs of lion.
Birds in Gir can be now see in action and the birds will soon be more active. One more thrilling moment that was difficult to capture was live hunting of yellow throated sparrow by a jungle crow!

Did you know that one of the smallest cats of the world is found in Jawai? Rusty Spotted Cat is a threatened cat due to loss of habitat. But the deciduous forest of Jawai is an ideal habitat for this beauty.

Jawai is popular for Leopards but only few know about the presence of Sloth bears here. In our recent tour we found a mother and 2 cubs climbing the rocks in the morning to reach their den.
While we were observing a leopard on the same hill, we also noticed this family of sloth bear! Leopards and Sloth bear mind their own business here ;)

Indian Eagle Owl or Rock Eagle Owl, is a large horned owl species native to hilly and rocky scrub forests in the Indian Subcontinent. And the forest of Jawai makes an ideal habitat for them.
They are usually seen in pairs. They have a deep resonant booming call that may be heard at dawn and dusk.
Have a look at the habitat shot in next image and try to find this pair of Indian Eagle Owl.

So this is how the magnificent forest of Satpura appeared to our guests in a customized tour to Satpura Tiger Reserve. This forest is known for amazing diversity in wildlife and we were fortunate to cover mammals and birds upclose! Head on walk of tiger and sloth bears left our guest speechless! We also saw a leopardess with 2 cubs that swiftly walked inside the jungle! These were the first in a lifetime experience for our guests. We also covered over 45 species of birds - sighting of the very elusive nightjar camouflaged in the habitat was a unique experience. A female of four horned antelope appeared like a celebrity who gave us quite some time to photograph her grace!

Only he can afford to be lazy in the forest! This bold lion gave our guest a lazy appearance after taking an afternoon nap. Lions enjoy relaxing and lazing around. They can spend over 18 hours for resting and sleeping in a day! They have few sweat glands, so they wisely tend to conserve their energy by resting during the day and become more active at night and early morning when it is cooler. Besides tracking, you can learn many behavior traits of this glorious big cat and other species found in Gir National Park by taking an immersive wildlife tour with us. The reason why tigers of Satpura are so special to us! Backwaters of Tawa river and wast span of mixed terrains makes it a challenging ground (compared to other tiger parks of India) for patrolling the territory. But this upcoming queen of Satpura is defending all odds (just like her mother) to keep her territory intact.
Our guests saw this exclusive moment where a tigress crossed the river for patrolling her territory. And yes, we were the first to spot her and observe the complete episode for over 45 minutes!
