Varkala Guide: Where to stay what to eat. Varkala is the hippie city of Kerela. Located on the cliff, it has numerous resorts and cafés offering amazing views. We stayed the Clafouti beach resort and truly loved it. The views are just amazing. The property is little old with Bali style Villas.
Some of the food joints tried are:
1. Caffe Italiano: with amazing ambience, view to the turquoise water of Arabian sea, it offers some really good Italian delicacies. Also to add the host is really courteous
2. Jairam cafe: Located near the black beach, right at the edge of the cliff, is wonderful place to enjoy a meal and the view.
3. Abba restaurant and Everest German bakery : Besides good food and view, the place also has a nice book collection and games that have can engage in . Their German is another add on, croissants lemon cakes, cheesecakes are just amazing.
4. Clafouti restaurant: This was the in house restaurant of the resort we stayed. And trust me it never failed to impress us. The staff is extremely courteous and the food is great at an affordable price.
There are other places like Darjeeling Cafe, Buddha Cafe, but these 4 were our best picks

If you want to find a quite a place in Varkala, you should be staying at the south cliff or the northernmost cliff whereas the north cliff stretches around kilometer where you will find café bars and shopping areas. If you cross this 1 km you will find serine beautiful place Only for you don’t worry you will find many cafés in the south cliff as well. If you’re planning to stay at the south Cliff, you will have to rent a bike or bicycle to reach the north cliff. There are many activities in Varkala like paragliding surfing swimming in the beach kayaking And much more My favorite properties in Varkala are Magnolia, Lost hostel, Hostel EXP, Zostel elixir clip stories, and Pura Vida.
