We take our crew members' health very seriously, which is why we will take all necessary precautions when dealing with Acute Mountain Sickness. If you're visiting Ladakh we'd like to help you understand Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
What exactly is AMS?
Acute Mountain Sickness occurs due to a lack of oxygen at high altitudes and our bodies' inability to adjust to low oxygen levels in the air. It is distinguished by the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, anorexia, fatigue or weakness, dizziness or lightheadedness, and sleep deprivation.
The best and most effective way to combat AMS is to fully acclimate within the first two days of arrival in Leh. Drink plenty of fluids, rest, avoid alcohol, and take Diamox (tablet) as needed to help relieve your symptoms. Remember to always contact your organisers if you encounter any problems.
