Happy to announce that the house of Smt. Teresa Sangma of Songkama Rongal village was completed and inaugurated yesterday. The beneficiary was under huge personal constraints to complete the house and hence BDO, Songsak took an initiative to complete the house through crowd funding. Various donors from the district as well as different parts of country came together to contribute money and villagers contributed through material and labour. We thank all the donors and contributors to make this happen and show community strength.

Various unelectrified households across 4 villages in the district have been given solar connection by Global Himalayan Expedition, an organization working towards solar infrastructure in rural areas through CSR. Many more households are to join in this solar revolution. We thank the organization for their initiative and the people of Garo Hills for their enthusiasm in getting the project implemented.

Several TB patients have been adopted by various branches of DC office under the Nikshay Mitra program for providing nutritional support to the patients. We request citizens to also come out and adopt TB patients. The contributions are only Rs 6000/- per patient for 6 months and and and will go a long way in ensuring their overall well being.

Williamnagar Goverment College Students excelled in State Level Youth Exchange Programme held at NEHU Campus Shillong from 16th to 21st October 2023 organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs ,Govt.of Meghalaya.
They performed in Folk Dance Competition ,One Act Play, Guitar, Flute, Quiz, Extempore Speech, Art and Crafts (Painting). They were the First Prize winner in Folk Dance Competition (performed Wangala Dance) Also
bagged Second position on presentation of One Act Play(performed School Master Witten by Lindrid D.Shira) second position in Solo Flute by Mr.Pringstone C Marak and Solo guitar by Mr. Sallim Sangma.
They will represent National Level Youth Exchange Programme tentatively in the month of January 2024.

Emergency Responder Kits (ERK) was distributed today the 19th October, 2023 at Multi-Purpose Hall, DC Office, Williamnagar by Shri. V. Aggarwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar and DDMA Staff to 100 Nos. of trained Community Aapda Mitra Volunteers from East Garo Hills District. The scheme and project was sponsored by National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The Aapda Mitra Volunteers are well equipped with knowledge of basic life support and handling of Emergency Responder Kits (ERK) and they are the first responder in case of any disaster emergency or any situation arises in the district as well as preparedness for any natural calamities in real future

The HwC will go a long way in providing delivery of health service quickly and nearby in the locality and will save a lot of time by reducing pressure on Williamnagar Civil hospital as well. Meghalaya State Level Mock Exercise on Earthquake and Landslide Disaster was held today on 12th October, 2023 organized by Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (MSDMA), Shillong, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Garo Hills, Williamnagar and Revenue & Disaster Management Department, Government of Meghalaya in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), New Delhi, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India at different sites of Williamnagar town area in which the district IRT was activated in the district to response for earthquake disaster at a magnitude of 7.2 on a Richter scale. The mock exercise was a successful and fruitful programme in preparedness in real future.

District Level Children's Science Congress was organized by District Planning Office with the Focal Theme "Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being " where various schools gave presentation on Science Project based on the given theme. From Junior category Educere Hr. Sec. School was placed in the 1st position and Sacred Heart Hr. Sec. School in the 2nd position. From Senior category 1st position was Educere Hr.sec.school ,2nd position _ Loyola Hr Sec School and 3rd position Rongrenggiri Model School .All the winners and selected schools will participate in the State Level Science Congress to be held tentatively in the month of November.

Tribal Artisans empanelment mela (TAeM) in Williamnagar EGH jointly organised by Tribal Cooperative Marketing department federation of India Ltd (TRIFED), District Administration EGH, MBDA, MBMA, Prime start-up, DCIC, and MSRLS. The Event gave our our Artisans an opportunity to showcase their talents through various handicrafts and woodcrafts, blacksmith work, apparel making, candle making, Honey, varieties of chips and pickles, organic fertilisers and many more items. Respected Sir DC William nagar, IAS, Shri. Vibhor Aggarwal, madam R N Sangma, MCS, ADC and CEO William nagar Municipal board. Shri Nagendranath Jha, Senior Manager, TRIFED head office Delhi and Guests and Officers were present in this event. The Artisans will now have an opportunity to promote their artworks and products as TRIFED will help them in marketing and selling and also value addition training. As we move forward our objective is to make sure our tribal Artisans gets enough recognition in the country which will boost them to improve on both quality and quantity.
