Damavand city, Amol city, and Tehran are the three closest cities to Mountain Damavand. Damavand location is 69 km (41mile) northeast of Tehran, 62 km west of the Amol, and 26km north of Damavand.
Rivers around Damavand: there are five rivers around mountain Damavand, Lar, and Div Asiyab in the west, Haraz River in the south and east area, Panj Ab (or Panj Owe) in the east, and Tineh River in the north side.
Damavand’s wind speed:
It’s interesting that in Damavand wind speed at the peak is usually more than 150kmph (kilometer per hour) but this number decreases to 70km around the foothill. Winds mostly blow from the west to the northwest of Damavand. Moreover, at the top of the mountain, air pressure is half of what it is at the sea level.

Rainfall average in high altitudes is usually about 1400ml annually which in the higher altitudes turns to snowfall. That’s why majestic are snow-covered.
