Will I get an Iranian stamp on my passport?
If you apply for visa on arrival, you won't get an Iranian stamp on your passport.
I recommend you start your Iran visa process by applying for your Visa Authorization Code.

Nowruz, a time to celebrate the beginning of Spring and the new year in Iran.

One widespread tradition is the preparation of a Nowruz table, on which a number of symbolic objects are placed. While these tables differ slightly from region to region, the most common features are: water, candles, dishes of green sprouts (or Sabzeh), a traditional dish made out of crushed wheat sprouts, mirrors, eggs, and various fruits. These objects symbolise purity, brightness, abundance, happiness and fertility for the new year. In Iran, the table is referred to as the “Sofreh-ye Haft Sin”, and displays seven objects, each starting with the letter 'S'.

Are you ready to play the Tanbur in Kermanshah, Iran?

Tanbur, a long-necked fretted lute, is an inseparable part of the lives of the Kurds in Kermanshah so much so that the children learn how to play it before they learn how to read and write.

Baghlava Yazdi, a Sweet that has Turned into an Idiom in Persian Language!
It's pretty commonplace here in my hometown, Yazd, to welcome our guests with Baghlava and tea.
There are other types of Yazdi sweets as well but this one is something special.
Baghlava is so special that it has turned into an idiom in Persian language. That is, when something looks fabulous, you say "It's like Baghlaba!"

Nan-e sangak, or sangak for short, is a type of Persian bread traditionally cooked on a bed of hot stones, which gives it a delightfully bumpy texture. (The word sang means “little stone” or “pebble” in Farsi.)
Sangak can be made plain or topped with sesame seeds.
There’s a bakery near my home where they bake Sangak so I go there in the mornings to get some for breakfast. Wanna try some?
It’s so tasty 😋

Iranian handicrafts: Haft-Rang tiles

The term Haft-Rang (seven-colored) tiles was first used by a royal historian of Ilkhanate to describe the technic of painting on glaze, which is still practiced today.

The number seven however does not refer to the exact number of colors, because in this technic it is the composition and relation of colors that matters the most.

Today, Haft-Rang tiles are mainly made in 15x15 cm in seven colors: blue, turquoise, red, yellow, fawn, black, and white. This technic prevents the colors to be mixed into each other because they are separated by lines of a special kind of ink with oil and magnesium components.

Haft-Rang tile reached its perfection in Shiraz. Haft Rang tiles of Shiraz differ from other cities in quality and chemical components of its glaze.

Another difference is that the motif of “Gol o Morgh” (flowers and birds) is more used in Shiraz. Colors such as light green, pink, yellow, and white are more common in Shiraz, and among these colors pink is used more impressively.

One of the best examples of using Haft-Rang tiles is Nassir ol-Molk mosque that is also called the Pink Mosque. Other architectures of Shiraz that have benefited from Haft Rang tiles are the Vakil mosque, Narenjestan mansion, and Afif Abad Garden.

Moreover, a top example of Haft-Rang tiles can be found in the UNESCO-registered Golestan Palace in downtown Tehran.

Arrays of intricate tilework can be found in ornaments of many architectures and especially mosques, shrines, palaces, and mansions across the country. Experts believe the beginning of tile-work is traced back to the Achaemenid era (c. 550-330).

Have you ever been so impressed by Persian carpets?!
Founded in 1976, the Carpet Museum of Iran exhibits a variety of Persian carpets from all over Iran, dating from the 16th century to the present.
The perforated structure around the museum's exterior is designed both to resemble a carpet loom, and to cast shade on the exterior walls, reducing the impact of the hot summer sun on the interior temperature.

Palace of Ardashir Shiraz, Iran
What is particularly interesting about this palace is that its architectural design does not exactly fall into that of the Parthians or even Sassanian category; the design is a unique design particular to architects of Fars. The palace was built next to a picturesque pond, on the bank of the western branch of Tangab River that was fed by a spring, perhaps in connection with the Persian goddess of water and growth, Anahita.
