We leave the harbor and drive through the old town on our way to Godafoss waterfall (Waterfall of the gods). From there we og to Dalsmynni where you will be able to see the hillsides that suggest a large pro-glacial lake once occupied the valley. On our way back we stop at Laufas folk museum a turf farmhouse dating back to 1866. Before heading back to the ship we make a stop in the Botanical gardens of Akureyri where you will see around 7000 plants from all around the world.

We Drive from Akureyri port to Godafoss waterfall. From there we head towards lake Myvatn, one of the country‘s natural treasures. Together we look at the pseudo-craters at Skutustadir before exploring the lava fields of Dimmuborgir, with magnificent formations, columns and arches. The geothermal field next to Namafjall is another highlight of the tour, with its mud-pots steam vents and sulfur deposits, this truly is a tour to remember.

Leaving from the harbor we head towards Myvatn nature baths, located a 105km (65miles) south from the Arctic Circle. Newly renovated this is one of the latest additions to the attractions in the North of Iceland and opened up in 2004. The unique completely natural baths offer a relaxing experience in the geothermal water, rich in silicates and minerals that both benefit your skin and spirit. Homebound we stop at the beautiful Godafoss waterfall (waterfall of the gods) and stretch our legs before heading back to the ship.
