From spring to summer, these beautiful fish migrate to the Hólaá river– coming up from Brúará River and down from Lake Laugarvatn. On bright, sunny days, keep an eye out for their striking white fins as they cruise through the crystal-clear waters!

DH Rod Heaven! 🎣

Jónsbreiða pool or “Jon’s Stretch,” is a true classic on the West Rangá River. Located on Beat 8, about 26.1 km (16.2 miles) from the estuary, it can offer an unforgettable experience for anglers.

This pool is long and wide, scattered with rocks and punctuated by deep pockets. The flow of the river varies significantly, making it essential for anglers to skillfully adjust the speed of their fly—slowing it down or speeding it up as needed. It’s a dream spot for those wielding a double-handed rod!

Jónsbreiða is one of West Rangá’s most productive pools, with an impressive yield of 426 salmon this year. This achievement placed it third on the list of the river’s top 10 pools—a testament to its consistent success.
