The wait is almost unbearable… but it’s almost over! 🎣

West Rangá River opens on June 20th. Yesterday, six salmon passed through the counter — and the biggest one measured 87 cm! 😮‍💨

To help calm the nerves, we’re throwing it back to some opening day magic from last season.

Yesterday was a blast for Allison and Thomas! 🎣

They went on one of our private day tours with Sverrir as their guide and managed to catch five big brown trout on the West Rangá Trout beat 🤩

This is Allison’s first trip to Iceland.
She picked Iceland as her college graduation trip. This was her first time fishing, and her first brown trout. Congratulations to her 🙌

🎣 The salmon season has officially started in Iceland! 💪🏻

Birna, one of the landowners at Urriðafoss, landed her first salmon of the season – congratulations Birna! 👏
A total of 12 salmon were caught on opening day, and the outlook for the season is looking fantastic.

We’re excited for the days ahead and hope you’ve already secured your spot.

Have you ever fished the Hólsá West Bank? 🤩

We’ve recently added the lower Hólsá River to our lineup of salmon fishing locations. The Hólsá forms where the West Rangá and Þverá rivers meet — a passage all salmon must travel through to reach their home rivers.🐟

We now offer day tours to this area, giving anglers the possibility of experiencing some spectacular salmon fishing. The beat has a maximum capacity of two rods and is only offered in July and August, when the biggest runs typically occur.

We highly recommend it for anglers of all level. 🎣

Iceland Outfitters was established by the couple Harpa Hlin Thordardottir and Stefán Sigurdsson in 2014. They are both passionate anglers who have planned fishing tours for guests all over the world for about 20 years.
