We have had some great orca sightings on our Ólafsvík tours this week! Other sightings included white-beaked dolphins, minke whales, and even a humpback whale.

Unfortunately we have not been able to run tours yesterday and today because of too much wind, but we can't wait to be back at sea again tomorrow!

The first week of our season in Hólmavík has also started off very successfully with humpback whales seen on every tour so far.

We continue to see multiple humpback whales on each trip from Holmavik in the Westfjords. The whales have been just outside town the last days, an extra treat.
Our calm and sheltered fjord means no sea sickness and we are the only boat with the whales, same as our tours from Olafsvik.
Today's passengers were treated with a spectacular show of breaching from two humpback whales, as well as some flipper slapping. This is very lucky and not something we see every day, especially in such great weather!

Our whale watching season off Holmavik, Westfjords has finally started with humpback whales on both tours so far.
There are a few humpbacks in our sheltered fjord and today one in particular was splashing around, after we earlier saw it feeding together with another individual.

We also have an extra tour from Olafsvik tomorrow departing at 17:30. Yesterday tours from Olafsvik were very lucky with orca sightings.

On what is a very sad day, once again, for whales in Iceland due to the extension of whale hunting, we want to celebrate the incredible animals we see and we stand together with all the many people of Iceland who love whales.
A period of calm weather has given us some wonderful moments out at sea with the animals we love.
Yesterday was very much a s***m whale day, today an incredible day with orcas on both tours. We just never know what each day will bring.

May is starting off well here in Ólafsvík, and we have already seen five species so far:

Gleðilegt sumar!!! Today is the first day of summer here in Iceland, and we had two sunny tours with great sightings. Breiðafjörður seems to be full of life and we are having amazing tours these days. This week, we have seen six species so far:

✅ Minke whales
✅ White-beaked dolphins
✅ Harbour porpoises

The puffins are also slowly starting to arrive for the nesting season and we are seeing more and more of them every day!

The wind is blowing once again and we have not been at sea for a few days. Thankfully we had a few great tours earlier this week. Especially memorable were some incredible encounters with a group of fin whales that were feeding together! In total we saw three species this week:

✅ Orcas
✅ Humpback whale

March has been exceptionally windy this year, but we were finally able to run some tours again today and yesterday. It took some searching, but our patience was rewarded and we managed to find orcas on all three tours. It was wonderful to see them again!

After over a week of cancellations, we were finally able to squeeze in a tour yesterday morning before the next spell of bad weather. And luck was on our side, because we found some unusual visitors quite close to Ólafsvík... Two massive fin whales!

The fin whale can grow up to about 23 meters in length and is the second-largest animal on the planet after the blue whale. What an exciting encounter! After that we also saw multiple humpback whales.

Unfortunately tomorrow's tours have been cancelled because of weather conditions, but we hope to be out at sea again soon.
