Isey and the sheep on a stormy but sunny day. The wind just does not stop, it seems. Since the 3rd of June we’re either in an orange or yellow weather alert… Grrrrr! But for tomorrow, the forecast looks finally better. ☀️

Road closures ahead for today, June 3rd, due to the orange weather warning:

Mývatns- and Möðrudalsöræfi will be closed for all traffic from 20.00. Info about possible reopening will be available after 9.00 on June 4th.

Víkurskarði will be closed for all traffic from 20:00. Info about a possible reopening will be available in the morning of the 4th.

The road between Höfn í Hornafirði and Djúpivogur will be closed from 21:00. Info about possible reopening will be available in the morning of the 4th.

Probably one of the last shows of this season: the days are getting longer and therefore the chances to witness northern lights dancing in the sky become slimmer and slimmer. Yesterday though we got a good glimpse at the aurora before we headed to bed.

Flight over the eruption side last night. It appears, just like the last time, the eruption is quickly losing strength, and might come to a halt later today. The lava flow has again crossed Grindavikurvegur. The fissure is about 300-500m long. Grindavik and tue Blue Lagoon were evacuated in time, although the eruption started with short warning.

Eldgos er hafið við Sundhnúka. Þetta kemur fram í tilkynningu frá Eldfjalla- og náttúruvárhópi Suðurlands. Eldgosið hófst rétt eftir kl. 20.20.
