Frequently Asked Questions:
1) What kind of services do you provide? A) I am traveling back and forth between Iceland and Minnesota and I am offering to bring
you items from the States for a fee. Most of the items that I bring are clothing and toys. I am also able to bring in electronics as long as the buyer is willing to pay the taxes in the case that I am asked to declare them while going through customs. The idea is that by ordering through me here in the States, you will pay less than you would for the item in Iceland. You can either order items online yourself and mail to my house here in Minnesota; I can order online for you and mail to my house; or I can go into the store and purchase the items for you.
2) How do I place an order? The first thing you need to do is to get in contact with me to let me know what you are interested in buying. The easiest way to correspond with me is through e-mail: [email protected], although I will respond to messages sent through facebook. You need to send me the information with either links, colors and sizes, or you can just send me a desktop photo of your online "shopping cart".
3) How do I know what sizes I should order? I would first check out the size charts that are available on the website from which you are ordering. Many websites have comment and/or rating sections for all of their items so that customers who have purchased the item can weigh in on the quality, sizing and overall impression. If you have any questions just let me know. I am familiar with the sizing of many popular brands here and am happy to help you figure it out.
4) I am interested in an item, but I have no idea from which store to look for it in the U.S, can you help me? I am happy point you in the right direction for where to buy anything. Often though, if you type your item into amazon.com you will find a surplus of online vendors who offer the item, new and used.
5) How do I know which stores are in your area? You can find links for the directories of the malls in the "products" section of my page, or you can use the "store locator / find a store near you" button found on most websites and type in the area code "55106" to see if there is a store in my area.
6) What are the fees that you charge for your services? A) For clothing I charge roughly 5.000kr for every $100 you spend. The fee is variable for other items since I need to consider the weight and the dimensions for traveling with it in my luggage.
7) How do I make a payment? I have an Icelandic bank account and can accept payments via a bank transfer. If you are ordering items online through a company that accepts international credit card payments then I will ask you to just pay for that yourself, and then to deposit the fee into my bank account via a bank transfer. If I must place an online order for you using USD with my american credit card then I will ask you to reimburse an approximate total for your order in ISK, plus the fee, into my Icelandic bank account via a bank transfer. If I am going to go into the store and purchase items for you in person then I am able to use my Icelandic debit card and will ask you to repay me the exact amount in ISK that pops up on my bank statement.
8) When do I pay? You must pay for your items before I leave for Iceland. I do not bring anything to Iceland that is unpaid for. For larger or more expensive payments I will occasionally take a deposit. I am happy to put you in touch with former customers in the case that you want to touch base with somebody who has made a purchase through me before.
9) When and where do I pick up my items? In 2017 I will be in Iceland in August. Items can be picked up in Reykjavik or Husavik.
