The storm that hit Iceland a couple of days ago resulted in huge problems in North Iceland, the power is out and both towns and farms don't have any electricity. Big rescue operation is going on in the north. The rescue teamers are looking for a young man who fell into a river when trying to put the power back on on a farm. The Red Cross has been operating shelters.

The Icelandic Red Cross is getting ready to open shelters in Ólafsfjörður and Siglufjörður, North Iceland, for people affected by power outages.

The Puffin in Iceland

The cute little bird puffin has arrived to Iceland and is preparing for having the chick. The puffin only has one puffling a year so it is important that it is successful, that the puffling survives and that we humans respect the puffins' need for peace and quiet and undisturbed existence together with the chick. The puffin can be seen in many different parts of the country, e.g. on the black beach Reynisfjara and in headland Dyrhólaey, but of course it depends on whether the puffin wants ifself to be seen or not. Here is a video that I recorded last year when I was traveling in the eastern part of Iceland.

Hello! I am a private guide offering private custom-made day tours from Reykjavik, Iceland. I do all kinds of tours, the traditional Golden Circle tour which gives you a great introduction to Iceland - both history and geology. I also do the south coast with volcanoes, waterfalls, glaciers and the famous black beach. Furthermore I am offering a two in one very long day tour all the way to the glacier lagoon and the beach sometimes called the diamond beach. I also offer tours to the west coast and the north of Iceland. My speciality is to make suggestions based on your ideas and of course making sure that you see all kinds of interesting nature in this beautiful country of mine.
