Throwback Tracks: From Our Family Album.

A rare peek into GJ Travel's early days! This moment on the South Coast Iceland reminds us how far we’ve come.
Eastern trip to the southern border of Vatnajökull Glacier in South Iceland. Melting snow covered parts of the road, creating challenging conditions, but the vehicle handled it with ease.
The Ford F5 (number plate R-374), modified to seat 27 passengers, was equipped with a robust 100 hp Mercedes-Benz OM 312 diesel engine, customized by Guðmundur Jónasson in 1952. And, of course, the spare tire mounted proudly on top of the truck, ready for any adventure.

Baby, it is cold outside 🎼
- but who cares when the northern lights are putting on a show like this? 🌌
The northern lights graced us with their ethereal glow right outside our hotel during the Land of Northern Lights Tour. The sky lit up with soft greens, dancing across the clouds, creating a magical backdrop against the quiet Icelandic landscape✨

Today is World Sustainable Transport Day 🌍

Sustainable passenger transport is one of the pillars of sustainable development. Transport is an integral part of our lives—it connects us, strengthens communities, and supports trade, economic growth, and employment. At the same time, transport is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. This is where modern buses play a key role in reducing carbon emissions.

As individuals, we can contribute to more sustainable travel by choosing modern buses that meet the strictest emission standards and supporting companies that operate responsibly and give back to their communities.

At GJ Travel, we do our part with a fleet of buses that meet EURO 6 emission standards, ensuring lower emissions. Our fleet is also equipped with the latest safety technology, guaranteeing maximum safety for both passengers and staff.
We prioritize destinations that support local culture, nature, and sustainability. We select responsible partners to ensure that the benefits extend into the community. We believe that travel should not just be an experience—it should leave a positive impact for future generations. This has been our focus since our family company was founded.

Let’s participate in World Sustainable Transport Day by choosing responsible travel. In doing so, we can positively impact society and reduce our carbon footprint 🌱

Forget everything for a moment in Iceland's icy wonderland ❄️✨

Invite your group to visit Jökulsárlón – a lagoon filled with floating icebergs. Year by year, the glacier tongue retreats due to climate change, expanding the lagoon as massive chunks of ice break off and drift across serene waters. With tidal flows bringing in warmer sea water, this ever-changing glacial landscape becomes a haven for fish, seals, and ducks.

Bessastaðir, the official residence of the President of Iceland, is a place where history, culture, and leadership come together.
Located on the Álftanes peninsula, Bessastaðir has played a significant role in Iceland's history for centuries. Originally a royal estate, it later served as a home for Danish governors before becoming the residence of Iceland's head of state.

Pink October vibes 🌸
Sharing some of our favorite pink Northern Lights photos from our September tours. These rare pinks and yellows happen when red and green combine during high solar activity, while violet comes from excited nitrogen in the atmosphere.
