Hjálparfoss is another waterfall en route to Landmannalaugar. The road leading there is a gravel road but during the summer time it should still be accessible for any vehicle. Those without 4x4 cars can visit Hjálparfoss and the reconstructed farm Stöng as a few hours detour before heading towards the South Coast.

The waterfall Háifoss is a hidden pearl on the way to Landmannalaugar. The road is only accessible on 4x4 SUVs and it can be quite a time-consuming detour, but well worth it if you are looking for remote and rugged landscape.
