Please be advised that the Icelandic Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the next two days in parts of Iceland. Travellers are advised to take precautions and change their travel plans if needed.

Take precautions when driving, as wind gusts could reach hurricane strength, and keep in mind that some roads may be closed due to high winds and heavy rain which may cause driving conditions to be dangerous.

Heavy rainfall will cause rivers to rise and become impassable.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CROSS RIVERS DURING FLOODING!

Always park your vehicle facing the wind to prevent accidents and damage when doors are opened.

Part of the road Miklidalur (63) is being reconstructed and short delays can be expected during the blasting work. There is a rough surface on part of the section and road users are asked to be considerate and drive carefully around the work area.

Here we are on our daily routine, testing the waters to find the safest way for the buses to cross the Krossá River to the Volcano Huts Þórsmörk. The rivers course changes every day and with the recent rainfall we can expect the rivers to dig channels and form sand pits wich can be problemstic when crossing.

Great news from Iceland! The Icelandic Government has started to lift all Covid related restrictions. Steps have already been taken with the aim to have all restrictions removed by March this year or sooner if possible. Let's all hope this time it will be the last and that we all have a great year ahead of us - Covid-free!
