Slow Travel Iceland helps you get back in touch with nature during shorter and longer walks - easy hikes - in the varied landscape near Reykjavík, capital of Iceland, as well as elsewhere in the island.
The walks are very suitable for beginners, children (as of approx. 6 or 7 years old, depending on their fitness/motivation) and nature photographers, due to the slow pace and pleasant atmosphere with a small group of people.
The walks/hikes last approx. 3-5 hours, depending on the itinerary, the weather and the mood of the participants. Shorter (2 hrs) and longer hikes/walks are also available. - Information on geology, history, flora and fauna and various other subjects is given on the way, and since the aim, for the majority of the itineraries, is to reach the top of a hill or mountain, you can enjoy an extensive view over the surrounding area (weather permitting).
Slow Travel Iceland is part of the Icelandic company "Allt er haegt" which in English translates to "All is slow" and "All is possible", describing the experience quite well. Founder, owner and main operator is Ms Ásgerdur Einarsdottir, or Addy for short - a certified tour guide with extensive experience as a hiking guide and a member of one of Iceland's Search and Rescue (SAR) teams. Addy has a Bachelor's degree in tourism, with emphasis on marketing and has work experience within different travel agencies, handling many kind of tour requests.
Slow Travel Iceland is a member of Iceland of Health, an association whose primal function is to promote health and wellness tourism in Iceland, by developing and supporting innovative quality services - http://www.icelandofhealth.is/
