Nordic Travel is one of the bigger tour operators in Iceland. The company was founded in 1988, under the name "Norræna Ferðaskrifstofa" and since then thousands of satisfied travellers have allowed us to organise their vacations in Iceland. Nordic Travel is a member of the Icelandic Tourist Industry Association, SAF, and has all necessary licenses to work as travel agent and tour operator. Nordic
Travel also has all necessary insurances to cover the company and, more importantly, its clients. Nordic Travel is a healthy company without debts, enjoying a strong financial position. Nordic Travel has twice been elected as “Excellent company” in Iceland by Credit Info, a company specialised in the assessment of management of Icelandic Company. In 2012, Nordic Travel was assessed “One of the strongest in Iceland”. Only 1% of all companies in Iceland fulfil the demands to receive such a valuation. More information can be found on www.creditinfo.is/english/buisness. For years, Nordic conducted business as whole-sales and middle-person, with one partner in each country. Nordic Travel is also a part of the Smyril Line family, so we also have, ever since 2004, taken care of all land-arrangements in Iceland for guests arriving with the Norröna Ferry. We have our own branches in the USA and in Austria. But times change and we change along, and now it is time to adapt to modern ways. That is why you can now book with Nordic Travel directly, via our website. So you can benefit from our long experience and get fantastic prices, since you skip at least one middle-man. The staff of Nordic Travel has many years of experience in travel matters in Iceland. Karólína, who was born in the Netherlands but lives since 1978 in Iceland, became in the year 1982 the first Dutch speaking authorised guide in Iceland with a full licence. She has worked as a tour guide for many years, but since 1984 she has also worked on the organising side of the travel business, at tour operators. Since 2004 she is the manager of the Incoming Department of Nordic Travel. Sigurjón started in the travel business in 1988 and has experienced this work in many of its forms, as tour operator, financial manager, hotel manager and car rental manager. Since 2003 he is the general manager of Nordic Travel. In 2007, Fríða joined the team. Ever since she was a child, she has been on many bus tours throughout Iceland, and since the spring of 2012 she also is an authorised guide in Iceland. She is a graduate travel consultant and she had already worked for a few years in our Smyril Line department. She still does that when needed, but most of her time is now devoted to organising your vacations in Iceland. Apart from summer staff, book keeping and temporary staff, our team consists of these four people, who are combining all their experience and ingenuity to make a fantastically efficient team. Apart from this, we have a host of people who assist us as needed. They are guides, driver-guides, photographers, geographers, geologists and even solicitors, whom are all just one phone call away. So there is no lack of professional staff to help making your holiday in Iceland a really superb experience!
