Travelling Iceland can take visitors to all the best-known destinations, such as the Golden Circle, the South Coast, and Glacier Lagoon, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, or a week tour around the island. Visitors can also go on a more relaxed wellness tour, involving nature experiences and geothermal baths, such as the Blue Lagoon, Fontana spa, Jarðböð spa, Krauma spa or the Secret Lagoon. Travelling Iceland also offers visits to less-traveled places, such as Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk nature reserves. The super jeep 4*4 tours grant guests exclusive access to destinations deep in the heart of Iceland. If visitors wish to add adventure to the trip, the company offers many options, such as snorkeling or diving in the pristine and clear water of Silfra; a lava cave exploration tour; ice cave tour; a whale-watching and puffin-watching tour; horse riding; ATV; fishing; snowmobiling; kayaking; a journey inside a volcano; or inside a glacier; hiking in Iceland´s astonishing nature; or a walk through an amazing glacial landscape. Every tour is special, to make sure that every guest gets the very most of their visit to beautiful Iceland. Travelling Iceland´s guides are local experts who are filled with knowledge of Iceland´s history, nature, landscape and folktales.

Because of the darkness in Desember in Iceland we like to decorate our towns and homes with all kinds of Christmas lights ✨ Many people leave the lights on for a few weeks after Christmas because it gives them a warm feeling until the days get longer in February 🥰

Our wish is that everyone has a peaceful Christmas 💫

Icelandic Traditions 🎅🇮🇸
We have 13 Santas who one by one come to town 13 days before Christmas and give children a gift 🎁
The tradition is that those who want a gift must put one shoe out by the window and at night Santa walks between houses and gives a small gift like a candle, a card game, or a tangerine in the shoe. Some Santas get confused and give too big gifts, we wonder why 🎅
Our personal favorite is called "Kertasníkir", he comes the night before December 24th and likes to receive an old candle in exchange for a gift in the shoe 🥾
What do Icelanders eat for Christmas dinner? 🧐
Probably the most popular meal during the holiday is pork called "Hamborgarahryggur" but many people are starting to find it too heavy on the stomach so lighter food has gained popularity and "Hnetusteik" which is a vegan option has become more popular in the last 10 years 🌱
Painting gingerbread cookies and making gingerbread houses is probably done in every home in December 🎅🏻🍪

✨ Did you know? The Northern Lights in Iceland are set to be EXTRA strong in 2025 thanks to a peak in solar activity! 🇮🇸💫

This magical light show occurs when solar winds collide with Earth’s atmosphere, creating vibrant greens, purples, and pinks dancing across the sky 🌟🌿

2025 is shaping up to be a spectacular year for aurora lovers, so mark your calendars! 📅✨

Most Icelandic people celebrate when we get a white Christmas because the snow brightens the short days 🎄✨Daylight never exceeds 4-5 hours in December in Iceland.

Spending time outdoors in a peaceful environment is something we are very thankful for, children can often make snow houses, snowmen, and angels in the snow ☃️

Many people take hot cocoa with them, to play outside, to help keep them warm in the cold weather. For others it's a good excuse to stay inside with a handful of cookies watching Christmas movies 🥰

It is essential to stop by Perlan if you come to Iceland this winter. The view is wonderful, and you can go to the café on the top floor with the tallest windows in town. 🤩On the bottom floor you can enter a completely different world and, among other things, walk through an ice cave. ❄️
