Verslunarmannahelgi, or "Merchants' Weekend," is one of Iceland's most popular holiday weekends, celebrated annually at the beginning of August. This long weekend is marked by numerous festivals, gatherings, and events throughout the country, with people flocking to various locales to enjoy music, camping, and communal festivities.

One of the most prominent celebrations during Verslunarmannahelgi is Þjóðhátíð in Vestmannaeyjar. This historic festival, rooted in local tradition since 1874, features a vibrant mix of music, bonfires, and dazzling fireworks. Held on the Westman Islands, Þjóðhátíð draws crowds from all over Iceland and beyond, creating a unique atmosphere of unity and cultural pride. Together, Verslunarmannahelgi and Þjóðhátíð embody the spirit of Icelandic celebration, bringing together communities to honor tradition and enjoy the height of summer✨
