Stopover: Behind the Scenes | Icelandair
Go behind the scenes of our latest Stopover campaign as it shines a spotlight on two stars: Hugi the polite bouncer, who helps tourists stick to their travel plans after they fall under Iceland’s spell, and the returning Stopover tourist, who shares creative ways to keep coming back to Iceland. Of course Iceland’s scenery is the headline act! 🎬
The Returning Stopover Tourist | Icelandair
The Icelandair Stopover makes it easy to stop in Iceland, and the country makes it hard to leave. That’s why there are lots of Iceland-smitten people finding creative new ways to come back.
Meet a returning stopover tourist, and learn why the Icelandair Stopover is a bit of a cheat holiday. (We think combining two destinations in one trip is genius, and so is finding excuses to keep doing it 🧐). Check out how you can enjoy a Stopover in Iceland: bit.ly/3IgwMbW
Faroe Islands family day | Icelandair
We start flying to the Faroe Islands from May 1, and we’re excited to reconnect with our Nordic family 🇫🇴 To celebrate, last weekend we held a family day in the Faroese capital, Tórshavn. HönnunarMars // DesignMarch recently took place in Reykjavík (yes, in May!). It’s Iceland’s biggest design festival, showcasing the innovation and creativity of talented Icelanders. As a proud sponsor, we partner with creators to help turn trash into design treasure, in the spirit of sustainability and recycling. Check out how product designer Rebekka Ashley was inspired to create the sofa ‘Layers’ from old Icelandair laptop cases, and learn more about the festival: bit.ly/428BBeP
How many LEGO bricks does it take to build a jet? Approx 25,000, if our project is any indication! 🛫 Billund in Denmark is the birthplace of the iconic plastic brick, and we fly there 2-3 times a week from May to October. To celebrate our connection, we worked with some local experts to build (and transport) a Boeing replica – watch and see how it came together. Maybe you'll feel inspired to book a flight to Billund: bit.ly/3LXXN5g

Við frumsýndum nýja herferð fyrr á árinu um mæðgur sem báðar elska að ferðast. Við vildum draga fram kosti þess að velja Icelandair, fyrir þau sem kjósa þægindi og þau sem kjósa leiðarkerfi sem nær hringinn í kringum heiminn.
Að herferðinni kom fjöldi fólks sem öll lögðu sitt af mörkum við að glæða mæðgurnar og ævintýri þeirra lífi. Hér skyggnumst við aðeins á bak við tjöldin og heyrum um gerð herferðarinnar. Myndir segja meira en þúsund orð, njótið vel.
Easy to stop, hard to leave | Icelandair Stopover
Have you ever thought there might be a story behind those ‘final call’ announcements at airports? You know the ones: ‘This flight is waiting on the last remaining passenger and is ready to depart.’ We think we know what the problem is – in Iceland, at least. The country is simply too enticing. There’s always another amazing waterfall, glacier, mountain trail, or hot pool to explore. Don’t say we didn’t warn you! Our Stopover makes it easy to stop in Iceland, but it might be hard to leave.
Icelandair | Mid-Atlantic 2023
Recently we hosted the Icelandair Mid-Atlantic Tradeshow in Reykjavík. It’s a biennial event that brings together hundreds of people from the global travel industry, some to introduce their products and others to learn about them. It’s a great reminder of Iceland’s location: it’s the perfect place for family, friends and businesses from Europe and North America to ‘meet in the middle’. If you’re interested in joining us for the next Mid-Atlantic event in 2025, read more: bit.ly/3YID7D1
A severe storm rolled through Iceland this weekend. As an Icelandic airline, we know bad weather. We’ve been well trained by Iceland’s nature to safely tackle such challenges, but sometimes patience is key – and we’re very grateful for our passengers’ patience and understanding this weekend. Many aircraft faced delays to disembark at Keflavík airport due to high winds and ice, and on our flight from Toronto some great artists asked if they could play music for their fellow passengers to pass the time. Thanks to Jessica Pearson and the East Wind for putting a new spin on in-flight entertainment!✨
In December, Reykjavík was the frosty backdrop for the European Film Awards 2022 📽️ It was quite a night, celebrating the year’s best cinema, and we were proud to be involved as the main sponsor – which included creating a Sky Lounge in beautiful Harpa concert hall.
