Although depending on the nature of the tour, the Icelandic unpredictable weather usually means to pack warmer clothes.

Snæfellsnes is known as a miniature version of Iceland.
⛰️🇮🇸⛰️
In a relatively small area, you can see lava fields, mountains, small towns, a glacier, sea cliffs, lava caves, black sand beaches and more.

We’ll add the best parts of Snæfellsnes to your projects.

Celebrate Icelandic with us!
🇮🇸 🌐❤️📚📜
This Saturday we Icelanders will celebrate our annual “Dagur íslenskrar tungu” – Icelandic Language Day. This day serves as a reminder of the importance of our language and the ongoing efforts to preserve and cherish it as part of our identity.

Established in 1996, Icelandic Language Day is celebrated on November 16th, the birthday of the inspirational 19th-century poet Jónas Hallgrímsson. ✒️🕮

Icelandic Language Day features poetry readings, cultural activities, and the Jónas Hallgrímsson Prize, awarded to those who contribute to supporting the language. This year, an exhibition with medieval Icelandic manuscripts, “World of Words,” will open at the Edda House of Icelandic Studies.

At Iceland Travel, we’re proud to have a diverse team and encourage everyone to engage with Icelandic. This year, in partnership with Travel Connect, we offered free Icelandic lessons at a Reykjavík language centre. 🎧💌📖

For any ferðalangar (travellers) visiting Iceland, here are some words and phrases that capture the Icelandic spirit and might come in handy. We also included pronunciations. ✨👍😊

Góðann daginn – Hello. 👋 (Always a foolproof way to start a conversation).

Þetta reddast – Iceland’s motto! It means “It’ll all work out.” 😊 Icelanders are known for their optimistic and adaptable nature, and this phrase is a reminder to stay positive, no matter the situation.

Njóttu dagsins! (Enjoy the day!) 🥳

Driving in winter?
No problem!
🚙🇮🇸❄️
The short daylight in Iceland during winter, especially between November and February, restricts the time for driving and sightseeing. When planning each day’s travel, please take this into account to ensure you can visit interesting sites in daylight. Be flexible in your planning because weather and road conditions can often lead to a change of plans.

Iceland is indeed the land of fire and ice
🔥🇮🇸❄️
Iceland has some incredibly unique geological sites and the country has extensive volcanic and geothermal activity.
Luckily, there are many positive ways to make use of geothermal activity in Iceland.
The Icelandic plume brings extensive heat, enough to harvest into electricity, heating for houses and even our darling geothermal pools.

Let us keep your projects cool and warm!
