I just love to see how the lavafield from 2021 is still changeing. On a cold winter day, or After some rain you will see the volcanic landscape in a total differend light. The lava is still cooling, still solidifing, thats one of the reasons its not safe to walk on the lavafields, even its over 3 years old and looks like a solid Rock.
The steam of the lavafields give the whole area a mystical Touch.
Join our hike and learn everything about our volcanos, while walking though this unreal Szenerie.
(Thank you fransie, for this amazing picture)

The area around Grindavik is still closed, even the Eruption seems to have ended Last night. But the activity can still pick up agian. This Was the view from Krisuvikvegur on sunday mornig at the beginning of the Eruption.
Its scary how beautiful this desaster can be.
This is not an ash cloud. The volcano didnt produce any ash, it was a completly effusive fissure Eruption. We just see a coloum of volcanic Gases and steam.
Thank you, Fransie for this great picture.

Since the Last 3 years, a lot of people seems to forgot, that a volcanic Eruption is a natural desaster, and not a tourist attention.
Now mother nature showes us, that we should never underestimate the force and distruction of a volcano.
Yesterday, was a Black day in icelandic history, and the first time since the 1973, that lavaflows damaged Infrastruktur and private property.
Sure, iceland is use to volcanic Eruptions, but that dosnt make it easier for the people, who lost everything in a few short hours.
Weshould thank all the amazing workers, that are risking their lifes, to prevent further damages on the town and all the rescue workers and police offcers. You are all doing an amazing job.

We will not Marketing this Eruption, as a destination on our tours. Feel free to Support grindavik and/or the icelandic search and rescue team, with a donation. (Link will follow in the story).

Thank you .fpv for the picture (you are doing an amazing job, to keep us updated on the developement of the Situation)

On a day, with so many bad news like today, its sometimes good to enjoy some summer memories.
This picture was from one of my best days this year. A great highland hiking Trip to Landmannalauger. A place that i will never get tired of. Especially on warm and sunny day.
Thank your for the great time we had this summer ❤️

I just love it, when the Icelandic landscape looks like a black-and-white picture. (And no this not a back-and-white-filter, is just a normal picture, on a cloudy Icelandic winter day).
It also answers one of our most common questions, for the volcano hike in the Winter months: "can we still see the lavafields, even there is snow?" - Yes you can, this is the lavafield from the 2021 Eruption (3 years old) and still way to warm to be covered in snow.
Natur is just amazing 🌋❄️
(Thanks for the picture)

Snæfellsnes is always a great idea for a day trip, and in the wintermonths it can be a beautiful paradise. Snowy mountains, icy beaches and on a clear day the view on icelands smallest glacir, the Snæfellsjökull.
But it also a place where you can face difficult driving Conditions and high wind speeds.
Thank you goes to our guide Fransie, for this amazing picture, ❤️

Lake Kleifarvatn is one of the most beautiful places on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Just the drive along road Nr. 42 (krysuvikvegur) can be breathtaking. Everytime a magic moment and a new amazing view around each corner.
If in summer or in winter, this place is just magical. (Even the drive can be a bit scary during the wintertime... so better take it slowly and drive carefull)

On a windy sunday in the wintermonths, i like to remember the great trips we did in the Last summer.
The rainbow street infront of the church in Seyðisfjörður is one of the most iconic places in the east of Iceland and a very popular Instagram hotspot.
But this little town has much more to offer, take your time, explore the little Shops in the town, sit at the habor and enjoy the near unreal Szenerie of the the east fjords.

The closed view you can get right now on the new lavafields from december 2023 is from about 4 km away from the Fagradalsfjall volcano trail A.
Its clearly visible how hot the lavafield still is. A blueish steam is rising and indicates the degasing of sufur from the fresh lava.
To see the youngest rocks of iceland and learn everything about our volcanos and the Eruptions from 2021 - 2023 is the Highlight of pur volcano hikes. And right now we are just have to play the waiting game for the next Eruption. What do you think, will it be days, weeks or months from now ?
(Thank you for the great picture🌋❤️)

In winter they are growing a thick winterfur to keep then warm.
But please dont feed or Touch any horses, that you see on the side of the road.

Last day of the year... time to remember all the amazing days we had in 2023. A sunny day at Háifoss is one of my Favorit memories of the summer. This waterfall is just stunning, but on a sunny day... even more magical.
The whole GeoAdventures Iceland Team wishes you a great start into 2024.
Be ready for more adventures, for more geology (And hopefully some more "tourist friendly" volcanos) 🌋❤️

The Kerið Crater can look totaly differend in summer and in winter. While in summer we find a stunning contrast between Red Rocks, green moos and the blue of the Lake... the crater is in winter are a bit... less... colourfull 😅
But still a beautiful place to visit, with a great geology. Just be carefull during the icey season. The paths are very slippery, so make sure to bring your crampons. And dont walk on the ice... you never know how thick the ice realy is.
When you look closely to the picture, you will also find the work of an creative artist 😅

We often get the question if we do our volcano hike also in winter, when there is a lot of snow... ? And yes, we do 👍 our tour can take place all year around. The lava fields are mostly not covered in snow, because the lava is still to warm. The contrast between Black New lava flows and the white surroundings is stunning.
Just make sure to Dress very warm. Winter hikes are not for everyone and it can get very cold. (Picture from February 2023) ❄️❄️
