🇬🇧EN: Eruption has started north of Grindavík in the Reykjanes Peninsula.

⛔️The eruption site and the roads in the area have been CLOSED while the authorities assess the situation. Please respect the closures and stay away from the area.
Please don’t drive Reykjanesbrautin (road 41: the road to and from the airport) unless it is necessary.

❗️Grindavík and the surroundings are beeing evacutated due to the eruption.❗️

🇮🇸IS: Eldgos er hafið norður af Grindavík.

⛔️Gossvæðið og vegunum að því hefur verið LOKAÐ á meðan yfirvöld meta svæðið. Vinsamlegast virðið lokanirnar og haldið ykkur frá svæðinu.

🌋This morning a new volcanic eruption began at the Reykjanes peninsula. This is the fifth eruption in four years on the Reykjanes peninsula.

🫶 Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Grindavík during these times. Fortunately, everyone is safe, the town was evacuated hours before the eruption started.

🇮🇸 however, Iceland is still safe to visit. The affected area is limited to Grindavík and it's surrounding area which is closed off to the public.

✈️ Air traffic to and from Iceland has not been affected and the same goes for all our tours.

💙 The situation is constantly being monitored and if there are any changes, we will inform everyone promptly.

Looking ahead then Atlantsflug/Flightseeing is pleased to announce that it has signed a memorandum of understanding for collaboration to promote the successful launch of the FLIMAX Electric Aircraft and its deployment by Atlantsflug.
It covers the development, certification, and delivery phases of the FLIMAX with the objective of producing an optimal product, acceptable to Atlantsflug. The shared aim is to develop FLIMAX for flightseeing and other missions at Atlantsflug. The aircraft will be powered by two 250 kW electric motors, having a range of 500 Km and carry 5 passengers plus a pilot with ZERO carbon footprint. The aircraft will offer a panoramic view for each flightseeing passenger as well as easy entry, including for disabled customers.
