💡 8 tips for visiting Sirmione, Lazise, and Peschiera del Garda!

1️⃣ Transportation: easily reach these lakeside towns from Verona by train, bus, or car. I went to Sirmione from Verona by bus (take the line LN026, 1 hour ride) and from Sirmione to Lazise by car. I recommend getting a ferry from the imbarcadero in Sirmione to Lazise, but avoid doing it during the weekend. You can get to Peschiera del Garda or Desenzano del Garda from Venice by direct high-speed train (Trenitalia or Italo) from Venice!

2️⃣ The closest airport is Verona Villafranca Airport (VRN), approximately 30-40 minutes away from Lake Garda. First get the shuttle bus from the airport to Verona Porta Nuova or city centre and then the bus or train to Lake Garda.

3️⃣ Must-try foods: Try dishes prepared with freshwater fishes from Lake Garda like the tagliatelle with trout and asparagus, sardines bigoli and risotto with tench. There are many artisanal gelato shops to try and aperitivo bars with wonderful romantic views of the lake. I recommend Villa Pioppi , never busy therefore a relaxing location especially at sunset.

4️⃣ For the best views of the town and lake: climb to the top of Sirmione’s Scaliger Castle, in Lazise, head to the mediaeval walls for stunning vistas, and in Peschiera, walk along the lakeside promenade.

5️⃣ How to explore the area? Rent a car if you want to visit more lakeside towns, if you don’t want to rent a car, mix up bus with ferry and if you’re an active type, walk or rent a bike to cover the main lake routes.
