Panettone

🍞This famous Italian sweet bread studded with raisins and candied orange and lemon peels is traditionally enjoyed for Christmas. Often exchanged as a gift among friends and family, panettone represents an act of kindness and a wish for a happy holiday.🍰

🔝Being made with lots of butter, honey, and raisins - it was known as pan de ton, meaning the bread of luxury, hence the name panettone. Panettone remains one of the most popular Italian delicacies as well as one of Italy's most exported products.

Christmas is coming...☃🎄and the B-italian team is baking !😍

Camilla starts with ; a Danish Christmas dessert made of wheat flour, mixed with buttermilk, milk or cream, eggs, sugar and a pinch of salt. Served with jam and powdered sugar (traditionally they were cooked with apple) so the name literally means apple slices in Danish.

; Finnish Christmas pastry made from puff pastry in the shape of a star ⭐filled with prune jam and dusted with powdered sugar.

: Irish fruit cake, made with candied or dried fruit, nuts, spices, and flavored with Irish whiskey. 😉

; are among the seven sorts of cookies that are a must at Christmas-time 🎁for Norwegians. They are made of flour, butter, eggs and sugar. Eaten plain or filled with whipped cream or other fillings.

; Typical Christmas dessert from Puglia south Italy, made of flour, extra virgin olive oil, sugar, eggs and pinch of salt and dry white wine. They are covered with honey or cooked must (vincotto).😋

; or gingercookies, a small, thin, crisp Swedish cookie🍪.The main ingredients are flour, butter, sugar and liquid syrup including also some spices such as ginger, cinnamon and cloves.

What do Italians do in November?? They go to local festivals and they eat!! 😅😋

Near Parma in Sissa; November pork festival to taste the best culatello ham in the world.
Near Verona in Vigasio; Fiera Della Polenta Di Vigasio-festival. (What is polenta = Northern Italian dish made of ground corn.)
Near Urbino in Acqualagna; National White Truffle Fair and much much more

🚢🚂Italy is well known for its expansive railway network, however there is one journey that stands out as being particularly unique - direct trains run multiple times a day connecting Rome and Naples on the Italian mainland with stations on the island of Sicily. As part of the journey, the train is loaded onto a ferry at Villa San Giovanni station, sets sail across the Strait of Messina, and rolls off onto the island into the port of Messina, before continuing its journey along the northern coast to Palermo and the south east coast to Siracusa. This is now the last remaining train in Europe to make a journey on a ferry.
