What better way to spend a cold , wet, rainy day than with a wine tasting and lunch at Vini Tili in Assisi. This organic winery and olive mill produces some of the best wines and olive oil in the area. Thank you Maria and Annalaura, ci vediamo presto ❤️❤️❤️❤️

According to a TripAdvisor poll the region in Italy with the best cusine is 💚 UMBRIA 💚. According to foreign tourists, Umbria ranked first ahead of Tuscany second and Molise third. According to Italian tourists, Umbria also ranked first ahead of Basilicata, Tuscany, Calabria and finally Trentino Alto Adige. This is what I have been saying all along !!!!

The wonders of Umbria 💚

I had the great pleasure yesterday of attending a workshop/panel discussion at the abbey in San Felice, Giano dell’Umbria. Umbria is renowned for some of the best olive oil in Italy and I had the opportunity to taste some of the best ! The workshop/discussion was centered on pairing i.e which type of olive oil to which dish, whether olive oil is a condiment or ingredient (in my opinion it is much more than just a condiment) and how restaurants can create an olive oil list, not unlike a wine list and a discussion on using olive oil as a medicinal ingredient. I also visited four different olive oil mills to see different means of extraction. Olive oils vary in taste such as: bitter, peppery, fruity, grassy etc and the right olive oil can significantly enhance a dish. A drizzle of a monovarietal Moraiolo oil (my favorite) on a pumpkin veloute can bring the dish to a whole other level. I could go on and on ……. At the end of the day I was awarded a diploma and returned home laden with bottles of green gold.

We were fortunate enough to attend opening night at Il Ginestreto in Colli. The views from Il Ginestreto are spectacular, the gourmet pizza delicious and the staff extremely attentative. A great place to escape to for a wonderful dinner or for your special event! Villa Il Ginestreto

We were fortunate to attend the opening night at @ Il Ginestreto,a wonderful restaurant in Colli. The views are spectacular, the gourmet pizza innovative and absolutely delicious and the staff exceptionally attentive. Definitely worth an escape from the city (15mins from Terni or Spoleto) you won't be disappointed. Villa Il Ginestreto
