Starting in October in Birmingham - this is something I am REALLY looking forward to. Nice cosy Friday mornings in the Moseley Hive enjoying great fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction! Come and join me at this fully-funded reading group where no 'homework' is needed. At the Cilento's first ever horror film festival in the beautiful setting of the Franciscan convent at Gioi, we were so happy to see the film made by Salvatore Carbone and starring Lars Mogensen once again. Lars was in no way a professional actor but was always supportive of arts in the region. He started the Elea Arte Club and you could tell how much fun he had making this film, Requiem for a Witch! Infinite thanks to Salvatore and to Santecchia Film Festival.

What, René, did I get out of staying in Wassard Elea’s apartment in the hill town of Ascea, once home of pre-Socratic philosopher, Zeno and Parminedes? The plan was to come to a stop, to sit in the garden, to make no plan. I would see what happened next. Like other artists I know, I have many roles in New York and in New Brunswick, New Jersey....

MAC & Elan Valley are looking for a Birmingham-based artist to complete a paid residency exploring remoteness and connectedness. The chosen artist will exhibit either completed work or work-in-progress at MAC in 2023.

- £6000 fixed fee
- Free studio at MAC x4 weeks
- Free accommodation at Elan Valley x4 weeks

We welcome artists from a wide range of disciplines and experience to apply, including but not limited to; painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, live art/performance and socially engaged practice.

For this residency we are particularly interested in receiving applications from people of all cultures and ethnicities, including those that may experience racism in our society, those with LGBTQ+ identities, and/or identify as neurodivergent, d/Deaf and disabled, and those that have experienced socio and economic barriers.
