Starting from 21 April, the city is preparing for the greatest Medieval festival of Assisi, Calendimaggio. Even if you are not in town during the actual festa, there are lots of events leading up to the magnificent days.

Thousands came to participate in this emotional walk with Mary, the sorrowful mother, through the streets of Assisi on Good Friday night. A spectacular procession from San Rufino to the Basilica of Saint Francis and then back again to San Rufino.

Who's thinking about Christmas yet??
Christmas is always special in Assisi but this year will be even more special....WHY?

This year, Christmas 2023, will be the 800th anniversary of the First Nativity. 800 years ago Saint Francis recreated the scene from Bethlehem of Christs birth.

There is no doubt that the "presepe" or nativity or crib will be a primary focus of the Christmas plans in Assisi this year.

"Carlo, like Francis, albeit in a different way, stripped himself of himself and was filled with Jesus. Francesco and Carlo together are doing a great job, they are a truly exceptional team, to bring many, especially young people, back to Jesus". This is one of the passages of the homily of the bishop of the dioceses of Assisi - Nocera Umbra - Gualdo Tadino and of Foligno, Monsignor Domenico Sorrentino, on the occasion of the Holy Mass of the liturgical memorial of Blessed Carlo Acutis, celebrated in Assisi in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore-Sanctuary of the Stripping in the afternoon of October 12.
