The Palio di Asti 2024, the historic and oldest Palio in Italy, returns again this year for a new exciting edition scheduled for Sunday 1 September 2024. Three heats and a final. A handful of minutes each for this traditional event in the Piemontese city. To enrich everything, however, many collateral events which throughout the day will contribute to making the atmosphere unique. The Palio of Asti has always been held on the day of the city's patronal feast, dedicated to the Asti martyr San Secondo.


The Palio of Asti, which animates the end of the summer in the delightful Piedmont city, has its roots in the distant Middle Ages. The first news dates back to 1275, the year in which Guglielmo Ventura, a local chronicler, reports that the people of Asti ran the Palio for fun under the walls of the enemy city of Alba.

The 20 horse race to win the famous Palio is only the last great act of four days of celebration, colours, culture and gastronomy, in which present and past merge to give life to one of the most evocative events in the national territory. On the program there is the Palio market with its stalls in Piazza Alfieri, the propitiatory dinners with ancient medieval recipes, the show of the A.S.T.A flag-wavers, the historical parades of the Palio and the children's procession. In short, this year too, the city of Asti will relive the ancient medieval atmosphere between the waving of flags and the blaring of trumpets.

Questa mattina all'alba l'Etna ha deciso di allenarsi nell'esplosione sincronizzata, futura disciplina olimpionica in cui la medaglia d'oro è praticamente assicurata! In foto possiamo ammirare in attività tre dei quattro crateri sommitali: il Cratere di Sud-Est con il suo vistoso degassamento, la Voragine con la sua timida esplosione e il Cratere di Nord-Est con quella più appariscente delle due.
