Torre di Sopra is where my bro and I grew up.

It’s a medieval watchtower just south of Florence, artfully converted in the 1970s by our architect pa, Bruno Sacchi and our mother Jane.

After our father died, we renovated it extensively, added a pool and transformed the garden and now rent it for short term holiday lets and artist retreats, a little haven away from the hussle and bustle of the city.

Last year the BBC asked if they could film some of their hit tv programme Amanda and Alan’s Italian job, as a perfect spot of medieval watchtower inspiration for Alan’s room renovation.

You can catch it TONIGHT 26 Feb at 8.30pm, on BBC1, Series 2, Episode 4, or anytime on BBC iPlayer.

Arrivederci and enjoy! 🤩

The director of the talking about the museum’s unique and avant-garde design by my father Bruno Sacchi with Lorenzo Papi. She’s talking about the truly inspired design of walkways which allow the visitor to view Marino Marini’s sculpture from every angle, alongside, above and below. Next time you’re in Florence, it’s well worth a visit.

Medieval walls, modern interiors. We’ve added this little number to the study... this is where our guests naturally congregate, where they wait for each other as they get ready to go on excursions, and where they relax after them. The only other frescos as early as these are in the church of Santa Croce, in town. Perfect with this new sofa and reading light 🧡
