Palinuro cape, in the heart of Cilento, stretches with his cape with the characteristic shape of pentadactyl (5-fingers) in the unpolluted sea of ​​the Cilento coast, in one of the most beautiful coastline of the entire Campania, with its falling rocks sharply to the sea from heights of over 50 meters, overlayer from the lighthouse, one of the most important of the entire Italian coast, and nearby weather station.

Among the rocks of the cape, several species of birds nest and grow unique plants, such as the "primula" primrose of Palinuro, that only between these rocks has found its habitat.

The real treasure, however, Palinuro hides beneath the surface of the waves, thanks to a huge amount of natural caves and hollows, less than 32, which makes it a paradise for divers.

Not to be missed, above the water level can be visited by boat, the Blue Grotto, named for the spectacular reflections of light on water, the cave of silver and the sulfur, which contains a source of sulfur water characteristic odor.

The Antiquarium is on a coastal cliff next to a picturesque cove in the town of Ficocella. The building was built in the ’60s thanks to the interest of the Provincial Tourism of Salerno, in order to give place to a host of archaeological finds for a succession of excavations since 1948. Right now the antiquarium showed its lack of security measures to a series of thefts that convinced the Archaeological Superintendants of Salerno to collect the finds and store them in the warehouses of the provincial capital. From that moment it opened a bitter controversy between citizens and institutions for the reopening of the "museum" in 1985. The Superintendency, directed by Prof. Werner Jowannosky, granted the return of artefacts which were however, properly exhibited and setup at the local parish. Ten years later they started on the restructuring and securing of the Ficocella antiquarium, in the meantime, the old material was transferred, again to temporary offices on Indipendenza Street. With the end of the restructuring, finally, they have put an end to the wandering of artifacts that represent only part of what has been unearthed and still lying in the soil of Palinuro.

This coin, kept in the Paris National Library, goes back to the 6th century B.C.and is of grat interest. On one side it bears the inscription
PAL-MOL, which stands for Palinuro-Molpa,
and on the other a boar running.The
inscription provides us with the cue for
colouring the history of the area with a little
mythology. Molpa was in fact considered
to be the dwelling-place of the Sirens,
marine divinities with women's heads and
fishes'tails.According to the Odissey,
when Ulysses heard their call,he made his companions block up their ears
with wax while he tied himself to the mainmast of his ship.Molpea,
one of the sirens, was to disappointed and embittered at not having been able to get the
astute Ulysses into her clutches that she
changedherself into a rock.

The vases are extremely simple in conception,
but there are also some more complex and imaginative shapes, such as a jug with a spherical body and a cylindrical neck with two vertical handles with double stems;or another
jug with trilobe necks and superimposed handles.All these vases, with others of lonian deisgn, are kept in the Antiquarium, a small local museum which also holds the
trasures found in the necropolis found in San Paolo , and many other prehistoric relics
such as spearheads, single and double bronze brooches,rings,strainers and graters.

In 1956, 53 tombs which had contained the remains of buried and cremated bodies were unearthed at San Paolo.These tombs belong to a 6th century B.C.necropolis, and their main charactheristic is their having been closely packed together, very probably because the remains had to be disposed of in great haste.
